What is the proper drive bit for this star drive screw?

Asked by: Odie
T-25 (torx) star bit. One bit comes in each container (you may have to dig for it). Just drove about a 1000 screws using one bit without any cam out.

I needed some 2 1/2 inch deck screws for a security door install project I was doing. I went into the store planning to buy galvanized Philips-head screws. They didn't have what I wanted, but they did have these. The price was higher than I'd paid in the past for galvanized, but stainless is more rust resistant, so I bought these to try. I am glad now that I did! They drove through pressure-treated lumber very easily, and I never stripped the head of a single screw, or had one break on me. The Torx head on these screws gave me more bite with my screw gun, and I never had the slightest slippage. Some people may think I am crazy for getting excited about screws, but if you have ever spent any time driving the old-style galvanized Phillips-head screws into pressure treated wood all day, you know how many you end up stripping the heads on, or simply snapping in half. They even include a Torx bit for your screw gun. These screws are great, and when you don't waste any, the price you paid makes it all worth it! Thanks Home Depot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't Cam Out and Drive Smoothly Several years ago I replaced several boards on my cedar deck and had to remove and replace lots of stainless steel screws that had square drive heads. I had to use a drill and screw extractor to remove about half of them because the square drive heads kept stripping out. Several even stripped out when installing the new screws. I'm now replacing about a hundred boards using these star drive screws and they just don't strip out and they drive through the boards like butter. I heartily recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best I purchased two 5lb boxes for a deck. It was 16x20. Almost had enough to complete the job but not quite. Needed a few more, for convenience I went to a store close by and purchased another brand (1lb box, they did not carry this brand.) I had 5 screws either break or strip out of this box. Of The grip-rite PrimeGuard, I installed 10lbs and did not have any issues with any of the screws. That says something about the quality of this product. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from specification sizes are nonsense These are 2 3/8 inch screws. The specification is full of "4.5 inch". The screws are fine, the spec is very wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Screws So far, so good. I bought 1400 of these for my deck project. Paid a little more for the stainless steel, as recommended by the experts, to use with the western red cedar I'm using for this deck. Even though they are self starting I pre-drilled the holes to keep the boards from splitting. Time will tell about the no rust but these do come with a life-time guarantee. I've only found about 1% of these to be unusable (i.e. star on screw heads messed up) so that's not too bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good screws screws are great the 4.5 that is in the specs is the box size lol I guess that could confuse someone but I can't seem to find the big buckets anymore but I'm still happy
