CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by SS Deck Screws I used the screws for a renovation of an old deck mainly because they can be removed more easily than nails when you have to replace any part of the deck that gets to old or damaged. The screws used were 3" x 10 stainless steel and were easily used without pre-drilling holes for them. The screws were in a plastic box with a easy open lid and they included a T-25 Star installation bit. October 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Shouldn't rust, but requires pilot holes I just screwed in 27 of these, and I did not have a drill bit long enough to make a pilot hole the entire length of the screw. While screwing in 3 of these, the heads broke off. I recommend using stainless 305, 304, or 316 screws instead of e.g. another popular coated deck screw, but be sure you drill pilot holes first because these aren't the toughest screws around. It would be great if Home Depot sold these in decking colors, but alas just regular stainless. February 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by standard stainless durability I haven't used any yet but I am familiar with Grip Rite from Lowes so I know they are standard solid stainless steel as advertised. I was looking for another brand, Swan Secure, aka Swaneeze, that are the same size, square headed, and 3", the stainless ones I've used before from Lowes, which no longer carries them, but HD didn't have them. I found a substitute in Grip Rite. Pilot holes, no problem, I already know to drill pilot holes, I've been maintaining my deck since about 2000. It's best to screw manually for the final halfway and not use power tools all the way b/c the squares will get stripped maybe, then you have to toss them and start over with a manual screwdriver. Everybody wants to use only modern power drivers, but sometimes the old way is best and the only way that will work. These are the best, they are superior to spiral shank nails b/c they can be unscrewed, spiral nails would make your lumber a bear to pry out with a pry bar or crow bar. Stainless does not rust and is like the old surfboard fin screws made of stainless steel designed for water contact. March 15, 2014
