This was the thermostat used by the HVAC contractor our builder used. After moving in it failed in less than 2 months. My neighbors also failed in less than 2 months. This product has a major problem plus I have inside information that this product cannot pass some of the typical electrical requirements that more expensive brands meet. FYI, my failed thermostat was unpredictable and failed during the cooling season. It would either stop cooling or would run continuously. Would either display LO with a set point of 44 or HI with a set point of 00. When I reset it the set point would gradually drop.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tooljunkie Nice Thermostat, confusing Instructions when used for heat and A/C
Large, easy to read ,simple to operate, hardwired with battery back-up. Everything I wanted in a thermostat. However, the instructions were written by a non-native English speaker and were confusing, even though I have installed dozens of thermostats. To make matters worse the online instructions contradicted the instructions in the package. I finally called the support number and received the correct wiring instructions from the tech.

Excellent design. I bought it for the 5 minute compressor delay when the power interrups. The large digital readout is easy to see. I also like being able to adjust temperature swing.

It is very easy to SEE and use. Attractive, modern, classy. The only minor drawback It seems to drain the batteries quickly, so I use rechargeable batteries.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by WeCareALot Get the one from Mexico, not China.
I received a T701 less than 2 years ago when Arco Temp Air installed a new Rheem. The unit failed and Arco Temp refused to honor the warranty and I was forced to replace the T701. (Lucky guess it was the failed part.) The old unit was made in China. The new T701 is made in Mexico. It is slimmer and lighter than the old unit. However, it was missing a spring in the battery compartment so I had to improvise with a makeshift copper spacer to allow the batteries to power the unit. It's working so far. Caveat emptor.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dano 2nd unit to go bad in 1 week
Okay so considering the many positive reviews, I'm going to assume the AC guy got a bad batch.
Nonetheless, the first unit was installed and within 1 day i couldn't set the temperature. Set temp read 44 degrees and if i tied to raise it, it would automatically count back down to 44 when I let go of the + button, as if the - button was stuck. The first night it seemed to cycle appropriately despite the readout, but the next night (i wasn't home) the unit ran all night and my roomie called in the morning and told me the place was freezing. Temp read 59 (???). That afternoon the LCD quit working. The AC guy came and replaced with the same model.
It's 2 days later and this morning the ambient temp reads 97 (the AC was/is off and the real temp is somewhere around 80). The panel doesn't always light when i push the button on top. When i try to set the temp I get a flashing 0 and it reads "CA" on the top right (calibrating?). No troubleshooting or error message info included with instructions. When i turn the AC on the display fades away almost completely. I will go and get a different one and install myself.
