Reviewed prior comments so I called before installing and was told to not unwind the thermocouple. Logs would not stay lit long. I called Procom again and was told to unwind it and place close to outside by room, stick in hot and cold water to reset. Works great now and looks very nice. Procom staff very nice and not a long wait time even for holiday season. This unit had least negative comments of any I could find anywhere.

Puts out nice heat and easily warms the 900 sq ft 1st floor. The directions for installation were very good. It's only been in use for a couple months so I can't comment on the longevity of the unit but I'm confident it will last for years. The only negative I can share and it's a small one is it was missing a fastener for the log installation but I was able to install them safely w/o the missing fastener.

I installed this gas fireplace insert with the aid of an installation kit purchased separately ($20). It only took me about 30minutes to install and leak check before firing it up.
The unit works well, it looks really nice (photo below). I snapped the photo when I was adjusting the gas burner, there are two rows of full flames that go all the way across the logs (at low setting, it looks like just a flame in the center).
The installation kit's flex-piping is a little long and it does contribute to an audible "hiss" noise (which is why I was playing with the gas setting - optimizing noise to flame). If you have a blower or fan, you won't hear the hiss, but if you're having a romantic cuddle in front of the fire, you will.
Pilot light and flame control are accessible and easy to use. Heats my front room incredibly well and the heat migrates upstairs to the bedrooms, which is nice.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dorothy904 Excellent fireplace
I wanted an open fireplace, so that it would serve multiple functions in the event of a power outage. This unit has battery ignition, which makes it quite suitable for starting when there is a power outage. Because it is an open fireplace, you can cook on it much like a campfire, in event of emergencies, though I would not recommend doing it otherwise.
It is vent free; no heat goes up the chimney, because you have the chimney closed. The fireplace heats the whole upper floor of my home without any trouble. I have found that the temperature adjustment (1-5) is extremely accurate and the fireplace generally gets the whole top floor to the same temperature, instead of the heat being focused near the fireplace.
I did notice another review that spoke of the fireplace randomly shutting itself off. It will shut itself off when the area reaches the temperature corresponding to the number you have it set to (about 76 Fahrenheit for #3). I like this quite a bit more than the insert that was professionally installed downstairs, which doesn't have accurate temperature controls.

Easy to install BUT you will have to purchase a kit to install on gas line.

We have used fireplace since it was installed after we received it over two weeks ago. It has worked well and not only provided the look we wanted, but also warmth in a very short time.

It is a great product and works very well. Heats well and the auto on and off is great. We are looking at free standing Pro Com for our hallway wall.

Pilot light flame is to high. Pilot light whistles. Thermostat shuts logs off before room is really warm. Took them back.
