Kerosene torpedo heaters are quite loud during operation. How does this unit compare? Is it quiet, is there some noise, is there a lot of noise?

These are nowhere near the noise level of the cannon-style heaters. They do produce noise but the two-burner one we have when on HI allows for a normal conversation when standing within 5 feet of it. I will say there is a loud noise at first when first lit simply due to rapid expansion of the metal. It makes a whine but that goes away once fully heated (15-20 seconds at worst, been a year since we've lit Read More

This unit requires 1 square foot of ventilation to operate, as long as you have that running it in a 600 sqft garage should not be an issue.
