Customer Questions & Answers

Are there edging kits that are straight and nail into the side of a concrete walk vs sthese that nail to top face of walkway?

If so,how long are they and what is the price
Asked by: Raymond
The edging sits next to the pavers and the spikes go down into the ground.

The path has an incline for the first 10 ft that can not be avoided. Should I try to score the bottom of the trim to make it work?

Is there another edging product that you can suggest to use on surfaces that are not flat?
Asked by: Susie
With the spikes in place, the edging is not going to move, even on an incline.

You may need extra spikes if you have curves. Also, if you live in an area with lots of rocks, like in New England, then I recommend steel spikes. Look for ProFlex 10 in. Metal Round Landscape Anchoring Spikes (45 per Pack), Silver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Plastic Is A LOT Tougher Than You Think! So when I originally requested this item through the Home Depot Seeds program, I expected that I would be evaluating this product in a live patio construction environment. Unfortunately my back was injured before I was going to install this trim, so I am falling back on my experience with landscaping patios, gardens and walkways at two different houses. Regarding the material the trim is constructed of, I can say that I have seen it last over 25 years without failure. Since it largely is below the walking surface, UV degradation is not a concern. When it comes down to design of the product and how it functions, it actually is very similar to most vinyl patio trim on the market. You provide a compacted level base below the surface, lay the trim in place, forming it to the contours as appropriate and stake it in place. That's it, no other steps involved other than laying your patio bricks and such. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product. The only thing I would suggest the manufacturer put more effort into is the single sheet of instructions. The print quality was very poor to the point the font had not completely printed out in various places. Not a show stopper by any means, but worth mentioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly simple These edges were exactly what I needed to give my new garden walkway a finished look. I am a 58 year old woman intent on reimagining my drought stirken lawn. I am using stepping stones to delineate 6 sections that will have new drought happy plants (some but not all succulents). The edges are strong, but I can easily cut them down to size with a hack saw. Using a rubber mallet, I can quickly drive the stakes into the ground. If I decide that I have positioned them incorrectly, I just pull them out of the ground and pound them into position. Very pleased (and my husband has stopped complaining that this will look like an amature job).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good design and easy install Purchased a metal version of this type of product but realized it would have required quite a bit more to custom fit to my needs. This product was very easy to customize and install. I installed with the anchoring tabs out and covered by mulch (not under the sidewalk material). The nylon stakes are ok as long as you have good soil to penetrate and hammer down into. I had to resort to a few longer (10 & 12") galvanized spikes - a lot of rock and junk that the nylon just couldn't deal with. All in all - looks good and would use again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Extra Expense I'm using this ProFlex 24 ft. Paver Edging Project Kit on a 15 ft. X 10 ft. paver patio I'm building in my backyard. I always want my projects to look professional and this kit does just that. I still have a ways to go before finishing everything but I tested the edging on one side of the patio. Once the spikes are nailed in the edging sits firmly against the edge stones I'm using. This ProFlex Paver Edging is an extra expense but well worth it to keep you project looking good long after it's done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it! This Spring we learned, once again, that good planning and some additional expense makes for a better project outcome. This helpful kit appears to be available online only, and includes 24-ft of edging plus 16 nylon spikes. Extra 8” spikes can be purchased separately online but we found more readily-available, less-expensive galvanized spikes work well in an installation-day pinch. The website says ‘additional individual 6 ft. pieces may be purchased in most Home Depot Store locations’, but we couldn’t find a listing online to check our local stores for availability and luckily stretched our one “kit” to complete our project. Instructions with the kit are limited but the Home Depot website video increased our confidence in designing the shape; creating the proper compacted base using crushed granite; installing the edging correctly on both straight-aways and curves; and nailing it appropriately. With pavers securely in place, we swept with sand, knowing we not only saved time during installation, but increased the stability and durability of our project. Installation of the edging required a hard-snips and hammer (not to mention all the tools needed to prepare the bed).
