Product use with 16x16 pavers

I plan to install Home Depot's 16 in. x 16 in. Red Brickface Concrete Step Stone (Model #72661; Internet #100333091); will the Proflex paver edging work well the installation of the16x16 step stone/pavers?
Asked by: Mendy6201
I believe it will do just fine. It is a very rigid product thus holds its shape well. Easy to cut tabs allow for you to shape curves as desired. Really the biggest question is how thick are the paver's you plan to use? This edging rises 1.75 inches above the ground so if the pavers are 2 inches or less, the bottom of the edging will have to be dug into the ground a little ways to ensure the lip is below the top of the paver's. This is a very sturdy product and will work fine for your project.

Can these be used with paver base panels? If so, do i drive the stakes through the panels or outside of them?

I am interested in using this along with the paver base panels instead of gravel base. I was wondering if this will work for that kind of project.
Asked by: Tawhnee
We used the paver based panels and drove the spikes on the outside of the edging. If you drive it through the panels you will create a problem ,if the spikes come up in the ground, you will have them against the bottom of your paver and this could cause the paver to crack!

ProFlex 48 ft. Paver Edging Project Kit in Black is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked well - great value This product exceeded my expectations. I used two of these kits to install a 50 foot curved walkway in my front yard. I purchased the pavers from a dedicated hardscape yard. The paver seller pushed their edge system as superior to what I could get at a big box store - there edge system was twice as expensive however. I went with this PROFLEX system and it proved quite adequate. I was skeptical of the plastic nails provided with the kit and bought steel spikes in the hardware department to suplement. Turns out the plastic spikes performed better (harder to pull out) than the steel spikes. If I was to do it over again, I would not buy additional steel spikes. For a curved walkway, I might buy additional plastic spikes than are provided in the kit to get the edge to conform to the pavers.

Next we will be tearing up some old ones along the edges and inserting this edging to stabilize them better. We purchased this edging about 2 weeks ago for 6 concrete patios we needed to tear out and replace. We have been busy installing it for the past week. It is very sturdy, easy to cut, the nail tabs section is great as you can line it up and drive the plastic nail to hold it where you want it. One one side we put the tabs toward the bricks and then on the other we put the tabs facing out. We used the plastic nails due to the soil we have here eats up metal, termites eat wood, sun eats the plastic. With the edging and nails being under the dirt when we are completely finished everything should hold up well

I just had new sod installed around my round paver walkway and the problem I always have is that the grass always grows over them over time and buries them. I used this product to contain pea pebbles around the pavers. I installed the edging and then put strong weed fabric between, securing it with long staples. Then I put the pavers back and put the pebbles down. It was labor intensive but worth it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I used this edging product to define the edge of rack bed. After clearing away the ground cover, removing the drip system, leveling the ground with sand and putting in landscape cloth, I nailed this edging in place. The hard plastic spikes work much more effectively that the work stakes used with bender board. I like the thin contemporary look of the edging. It is very easy to cut to length with a chop saw or miter saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Do the job. Edging worked fine. Very ridged construction and heavy duty. Easy to shape after cutting the links. Easyly cut to length with a sawzall. A little tall for my application bc I used reclaimed brick. Be sure you look at the height of you material. Spikes that came with the kit aren't ideal. Smooth spikes don't stay firmly in place when there is 6" of paver base and sand. They stayed down just not tightly to the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! The edging kit came complete with plastic nails. At first I was not sure about this product but, after installation it kept the pavers in place. This is a good product and it was cheaper on line then at the store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garden Railway Application I'm using this product to edge a "trough" of fine gravel 19" wide and 2" deep. It's the base for the model railroad trestle I'm building. It keeps the mulch and top soil out and the gravel in. Worked great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected This paver edging kit is better than I expected. The edging sections are very sturdy and the spikes hold them firmly in the ground. The kit is more cost effective than buying it in individual pieces.
