My Hampton Bay XR071 low voltage transformer stopped working. Is the a fuse? No lights and no lit LED's.

Is there a warranty?
Asked by: ed
I had the same issue and a new transformer solved the problem.

How many wiring connections does this have?

I need one with three connection locations. My current unit has 'high', 'com' and 'low' ports. Unfortunately, the picture does not show the bottom of the unit.
Asked by: JL
You only need to connect two - one hot and a neutral.

I have had my Hampton Bay 300 watt transformer for several years all of a sudden all of the lights are flashing on and off, what is the problem?

I have looked in the manual and con not find the cause.
Asked by: DonCannoli
It must have at least 20 W connected to work properly. Check all your bulbs in case any have burned out to make the current draw less than 20 Watts. This will also happen if you change to LED bulbs as they are much less wattage. The manual barely mentions that.

Landscape lighting flashes on and off, Red indicator light on front of Hampton Bay Model XR071 300W transformer also flashes at same frequency

I have a Hampton Bay Model XR071 300W Landscape Power Unit which has worked fine up until recently when I drove in a few days agon and my entire front yard was flashing on and off. I tried to power down the unit and let it sit however when plugging it back in I had the same results. Is the transformer bad?
Asked by: Jason
The transformer is still fine, it just means there is less than 20w being drawn on the circuit -- the flashing problem is mentioned briefly in the manual, and it says the circuit requires at least 20w. If the lights used to work fine but they just started to flash, a bulb must have burnt out on your circuit so that the remaining ones are now drawing too little current. The same thing happened to me (although I've found that a single 11w bulb is sufficient). This could also happen if you replace all your incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs that draw too little current.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job I have had this unit for years and it has worked flawlessly. There isn't much to it, it just works. I wanted a single unit that could handle all of my landscape lighting without worrying about too little power and this unit has not dissipated me. The connectors for the low voltage lines are a bit clumsy, but you can put up with that because you only have to connect the wires once. Check the price, I don't remember paying over $100, but I could have, it has been a while.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from First One Whined, Second One DOA & Used So ordering from Home Depot rocked and it shipped to my home quickly but when it was on it made a high pitched whine. I returned it to my local Home Depot and ordered another. I just tested the new one and it doesn't even work. It is obviously used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money These transformers are no longer offered in store, and may only be ordered online, which is a negative. Significantly more costly than other transformers of the same wattage. However, they do seem to be of superior quality and function for years with absolutely no maintenance. In commercial applications I prefer this brand to the less expensive offerings.
