6 in. Metallic New Construction Recessed Housing, Air-Tight, IC and Non-IC

$17.46 /each

Product Overview

This recessed housing has several great installation features plus an Air-Tight rating. Most brands charge up to three times more for this feature - but it is our standard. An Air-Tight housing is designed to prevent air from the interior of your home escaping into the attic. On average, an Air-Tight fixture will save $5 per year compared to a standard fixture. Considering that your home may have 10 or more recessed lights, that's $50/year! For use in new construction or accessible ceilings. Meets Washington State Energy Code requirements (when used with P8587-01 gasket). UL and CUL listed for damp locations and through wiring.

What light does this take?

I have this unit in my kitchen and one is dim and is flickering. The Progress P87-AT appears to be the housing unit, but I need to replace the lighting unit. Does Home Depot carry the right light for this, and (if so) what is it? Thank you.
Asked by: gray
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The P87-AT is the number for the housing, I would need to know the number off the trim you have to help answer your question. Here is a list of trims available for the P87-AT, if you could look them up on HomeDepot.com and match to the one you have installed I would be happy to assist you. Trims: P8065-28 - P8052-28 - P8062-28 - P8060-28 or P8008-60. Thanks!

What is differnt between two model P87-AT & P87-ATQC? They both have same discription. Can i copletely cover them with insulation in attic?

Asked by: Tiger
"The QC version has quick-connects – this allows simple installation of 12-20 AWG wire, without the need for wire nuts. Both of these fixtures can be used in IC or NON-IC applications. The product must be designated at the time of installation. If they designate the fixture for IC applications, then yes, the fixture can be covered with insulation. (however, they cannot be used with the spray foam insulation that hardens) Thanks!"

How does the trim attach to this can? Does it use springs or is it attached with screws?

Asked by: Frustrated
This housing features the Progress Lighting Trim-Lok(r) trim retention springs. The springs are attached to the socket and when the trim is installed, the springs pull it up tightly to the ceiling for a clean, finished appearance.
