Answer:
Always remember the saying, "righty tighty lefty loosey" So turn it to the left to remove. But have someone else hold the base at the same time.

Customer Reviews

Alabaster Glass Collection 1-Light Brushed Nickel Flushmount is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to change bulb Light works well and is low profile. Changing the bulb is problematic. The globe was stuck to the base. Used a hair dryer to heat up the metal base and gently tapped around the base with my knuckles and the globe loosened enough to twist off and replace the bulb. Tip: When reinstalling the globe, do not over-tighten.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Evil Lightbulb Change Had a professional install so didn't have to deal with that. However, the bulbs are impossible to change. The globe will not budge at all. Despite me, myself, and my husband trying the first time, we couldn't get it to budge. Conveniently had a handyman around the house a week later and he fixed it the first time. However, I was without light in my room the second time because once again we couldn't get the globe to twist off. Found the review here helpful in taking a hair dryer to it and heating the base of the globe and rapping on it with our knuckles (team of four with two hairdriers on high). Did that for not even ten minutes and we were able to twist it off with a little bit of a push. Hope someone finds this review helpful

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Changing the bulb is very difficult I wanted to put in a brighter bulb because the room wasn't bright enough with the bulb I had. The white shade part did not twist off as indicated, I had to keep playing with it until the glass actually broke in my hand! It was impossible to get the shade off. Now I am stuck and have to purchase a new celiing light. Buyer beware.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't change the bulb By the time the bulb goes out in this fixture, the glass dome becomes fused to the base. I gave up trying to unscrew the dome and eventually had to break it apart with a hammer. Other than that, its a great fixture.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice light fixture but it is impossible to change light bulb! We have not been able to figure out yet how to get the shade off to change the light bulb.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from How many people does it take to change a light bulb? Tried to change the light bulb myself and I could not twist the globe from the base. It was stuck. My husband tried and he couldn't get the globe off either. After reading the other reviews I noticed everyone else had the same problem. My husband and I decided to do it together. I held the base in place and he twisted the globe. Bingo!!!!! It worked!!! So if you plan on purchasing this product, changing the light bulb is a 2 person job!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice look, bad execution on the design Initially I liked the look of the design and it worked great for installing in our basement bathroom. However, just as the other reviewers, found the (2) screws through the insulation to be a little more difficult than needed for a simple light install. More importantly, the molded glass insert areas are more than likely not identical on every light produced. I will tell you with all certainty that I have been doing home remodels for a very long time and have never had a glass fixture fall and break. First, this bathroom is below our living room on the first floor which has considerable traffic with 3 children. Bouncing balls, jumping up and down, etc. I installed the unit correctly by twisting the light into place. I verified it was in-place, but over the course of 1 week, vibration and fact that there was nothing securing the glass shade in (i.e. screws), it fell. Tile floor in the bathroom and a toilet underneath...you can guess what happened. Listen, without reviews, people would never have an idea about the various products out there. I appreciate comments both positive and negative. BTW, we bought a vanity and never read the reviews...shipped with broken marble tops from everyone. If I would have read that to begin with, never would have bought it...ours was shipped the same way. Thanks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like others I can't open the glass I also have run into the problem where I cannot replace the lightbulb because the glass will not turn and come out of the base. Everything was fine when I first purchased the light but now I am going to have to replace the light completely.
