Answer:
The entire glass cover is one unit set in a metal frame. The real glass appears to be leaded to the frame and is held in place by four thumb screws. As one removes the screws you need to support the glass cover. It is more trouble then a open fixture but the closed feature is very weather proof and that's is what is needed in a exterior fixture.

Answer:
The bottom is enclosed. There are four thumbscrews on the ceiling pan that hold the glass shade assembly in place. Simply loosen 2 or 3 of these thumbscrews while supporting the shade to remove it for access to the light bulbs.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made exterior fixture. I had no trouble replacing a 40 year old porch fixture with this unit. It came with the needed screws and braces to securely install over a door onto a roof over hang. One of the reasons I chose this fixture was its height. I had a limited clearance from the door top and the overhang surface, This fixture is 7 inches tall. The light is a nice size for a single door porch installation and sparkles when using clear 40 watt bulbs. It seems very well built to last the Maine winters. October 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product and quality Good product and quality. Easy to install. However, even though the promo claim was 50% off, the $80.00 price seemed still high for an outdoor, 2-light ceiling light. April 2, 2013
