Answer:
There is a method of turning off at the switch and then back on quickly that puts the light into always on mode for several hours or until reset by switching off and waiting over 10 seconds then back on again.

The motion feature for this fixture can be temporarily disabled by flipping the wall switch (starting from the on position) off-on-off-on. This will cause the fixture to stay on for up to 8 hours (or until daylight).

CFL and LED lamps will certainly fit into this fixture. The question is really whether the CFL or LED lamp is rated to work in a motion detecting fixture. All we want is for the light to come on when some one walks by? Should the light switch in the house be "on" or "off"?Could there be something wrong with the sensor? Can we replace that part? Thank you.

Answer:
Light switch should be on.
Try each of the following to issolate problem.
1.Check the fixture first for bad/loose bulb .
2.Using non invasive voltage tester verify electricity at fixture.
3.Remove fixture, check for loose/wet connections. Attach wires to "hot" extension cord to assure fixture is operable.
4. Replace switch.

Answer:
The light switch will need to be in the ON position. The P5926-77 should come on with motion at night.
The fixture has a photocell that keeps it from coming on during the day. However, it does have a manual override that will allow it to be operated by the wall switch. After 8 hours it will automatically return to motion mode.

Answer:
It sounds like the electronics need to be reset. To do this, move the switch to the test position and turn off the power at the wall switch. Wait 1-2 minutes and turn the switch back on. After 5 minutes, return the switch on the fixture to the 5 minute setting. This process will reset the electronic timer.

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Find another light * Purchased 2nd light after returning the 1st light. They were both of poor quality. The light comes on sporadically during the daytime even though it is a dusk to dawn light. I have it set for 5 minutes and it will stay on for a longer period. When I received the package at home you could tell the box had been opened as thought it was a return package. I went to the store and 5 out of the 6 boxes were opened with instructions missing and the plastic bag covering the light missing. I believe they were also returns. I called the company customer service who walked me though the complete operation of the light and it still doesn't work properly. August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy. Bought two of these and the hanging light to match. The two motion sensors stopped working 1 month after install. Was past the 90 days of purchase so can't return to Home Depot. Have contacted the manufacture through their website, as they have a one year warranty. All they do is play phone tag with you with no resolution. Bought another brand to replace but my hanging light no longer matches. In addition will now have to pay a handyman to replace lights he just install less than 2 months ago. Don't waste your time or money on these. August 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Motion control is worthless. I bought three of these. Each of them has issues with motion control not working or coming on throughout sunny days. Very disappointing August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice lantern, but motion sensor doesn't work I brought the lantern home tonight to replace motion sensing LED flood lights. Installation went smoothly, and light came on as expected. However, I could not get the motion sensor to turn the light on in test mode at any sensitivity. Reset and tried again after dark, and no luck. It only works if auto sensing override is used. Will return tomorrow. July 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love them! Makes the outside of the house very impressive! Adds just the right beautiful touch! January 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great BUT stopped working in one month! Home Depot Pro Services installed siding on my house and I had a very old light outside, they recommended buy a new one to enhance the look of the siding. Home Depot installed the light with ease. And it looked beautiful I loved the motion sensor; it came in handy for dark nights. Well it HAD worked beautifully. Installed on 04.20.2016 and stopped working in less than one month. Total shame, it looks great but no will not turn on. Based on other reviews sounds like a common issue. Back to the store to find something else. June 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The right look for our home These lights are the right size and color to match the exterior of our home. We particularly like the open bottom design which allows for replacing the bulb without disassembling the light in any way. Installation was simple since I was replacing existing lights. The motion sensors work well, possibly a tad too well as they come on in the daylight. We thought the lights were on the pricey side but we liked their appearance best of the in-stock lights at the local store. We haven't had them long enough to give a five star rating or a higher quality rating. We had lights of the same brand already. One of them failed after only a couple of years and would not turn on. When I looked to replace it I found that it was discontinued so we had to replace both lights so that they would match. We took a chance that we would have better luck the second time around.
