Does this put out a lot of light through the colored glass?

I need it for a dark walkway
Asked by: Marcy
It's not colored just frosted. Still bright but not glaring bright like it would be with a clear lens.

Very nice quality, looks more expensive than it was, and has an eye-friendly glow with a 2700K (soft white) bulb. Easy assembly and throws a good amount of side light with a 75w equivalent LED bulb, but not much directly below the fixture since the bulb socket is oriented in an "up" position. It's on a standard aluminum light post that's on a hillside, so changing the bulb won't require a ladder, but both the top and an internal bracket supporting the top will need to come off to change the bulb. I would suggest not overtightening the two screws that hold the internal bracket so they will be easy to remove if you need a ladder to reach the fixture. I used different screws to mount it to the post instead of the ones supplied, since I thought a coarse thread would hold better to an aluminum post than the fine thread ones that came with it.

Enclosed instructions were useless but not really needed. Took about 5 minutes to complete assembly. Frosted glass allows for plenty of light but not to glaring.

I like the designs that Progress Lighting makes, I have installed lights by the same brand in both inside and outside my home. I am not a big fan of the Post Lantern but there was no other options to match the Resort Style. The light is rather small compared to other lamp post styles. The outdoor light fixture came with the standard light installation pack (for indoor light fixtures), three orange wire nuts, a ground screw and bracket to mount to a square box with the addition of four sheet metal screws to mount the light to the pole. I am rating this light as fair because it does look nice and match the rest of the exterior lights. However the installation of the light was a bad experience, the lantern cast a strange pattern on the ground, not a 100% confident the light will last through the years. I have had the installed for about 30 days. The installation was a failure for many small issues, its more the number of issues and not one major issues. The wire nuts were too small to connect the wires, also they are not preferred connectors for outdoor uses. The sheet metal screws used to mount the light worked but not ideal. The three mounting holes have different heights and not spaced 120 degrees from each other. So the light can only be mounted in one position. The nature of the sheet screws allow only one time installation, and no room to the adjust the light. The course threads of the screws would throw the light out of plumb. The light should have set screws to mount to the pole not sheet metal screws. Also the light fixture was missing the two machine screws to install the top of the light. The threaded sockets had metric threads not the typical 8-32 screws used in most electrical fixtures. The project of replacing the old light with the new one should of been about an hour. It took over 2.5 hours to replace light. The time includes: reading the directions, removing the old light, wiring the new light (with purchased separately wire nuts), mounting the light, rethreading the top of the fixture ( I had 8-32 screws, I was not in a position to go to Home depot and buy screws to match the threads) , installing the light blub (not included) and throwing away all the packing ( 90% of the packing materials was unrecyclable).
