This piece of bright burgundy red wood is obviously not white oak. It looks (and smells) exactly like cedar. Also, both sides are pocked with substantial rough holes in the surface. It is substandard for the facing of the cabinet project I am working on, and now I have to waste my time to return it while my project remains unfinished. The lack of expertise at home depot is frustrating. Not too long ago we were told by an employee that a board was maple because it contained sap, when in fact it was pine and contained pitch. I am so discouraged. We will see how the company handles this obvious error.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by joelav22 Great quality plywood at a great price
I use 1/4" plywood a lot for the bottoms of drawer boxes. This is top notch stuff. No voids, thick veneer and very flat. Unlike the inexpensive plywood, I don't need to line the drawer bottom with other materials. The veneer is suitable enough to be sanded and given a coating of shellac and wax.
Highly recommended if the application requires the plywood to show. One face is considerably nicer than the other, but this is not advertised as A-1 grade.
This has become my go-to plywood brand. Also it is sufficiently packaged to avoid any shipping damage.

I have never tried getting a lumber product over the Internet before, and after getting this one, I doubt I'll try this experiment again. The vaneer is very thin. If you are not careful, when you are finish sanding it, you will wear right through it. The sheet is 3 plies; the ultra thin finish vaneer, a thin backing and a thicker center. I was not impressed with the quality.

Years ago I used red oak plywood to make a floor to ceiling bookcase with very satisfactory results, but I seldom use plywood for making furniture. This panel is being used for its structural properties: plywood is much less prone to warping than solid wood, especially when humidity changes.
However I couldn't help but notice the beautiful grain pattern. The veneer is applies in 4 inch strips, so the end result looks as though you glued together solid planks to make the board. If my wife notices it, I can see myself making a lot of furniture!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mmechanic Nice piece of wood
The 2x4 piece of white oak plywood was very nice. It was a little costly, but when you need something what are you going to do.Of course stores know this. The wood was nicely finished, but had a slight bow in it. Not enough to cause a problem with my project. But thats what happens when you can't pick out your wood in the store. They don't sell white oak anything. Actually I bought several hundreds of dollars of white oak moldings and had them shipped from Ohio because there is no availability here in South Florida.

This plywood has a great weight and a nice look. We've used this plywood as a sturdy piece of our workbench. I am looking forward to the many years of use that this plywood will get as a part of our workbench. A great, sturdy, dependable addition to any project.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by joelav22 High quality plywood - damaged in shipping
This is really nice plywood. Thick veneers with good figure (rare for big box store plywood), great core and no voids that I have come across. Unfortunately it was badly damaged during shipping. There were some big gouges in the sides, the edges were crushed, and it was scratched through the veneer in spots. I had plans to line a box with this, but had to use it for shop jigs/templates instead. Kind of a waste but as I mentioned this is really high quality plywood.
If my local Home Depot stocked this, I would buy it all the time. I'm not going to take a chance on shipping again though.
