The bold yet delicate Blue Chiffon has the same great vigorous growth and lacy blooms the Chiffon series is known for. Its large, single blue flowers are adorned with a lacy center to create an anemone-like bloom.

  • Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon Hibiscus from Proven Winners produces large blue flowers in late summer, is adaptable and easy to grow, deer resistant, and attracts birds and butterflies.
  • Prefers full sun (6+ hours) and tolerates all but very wet or very dry soils. Grows to be 8-12 feet tall and 4-7 feet wide. At time of shipment, this plant will be about 6 months to 1 year old.
  • Blooms from late summer to late fall with blue flowers. Can be heavily pruned, though this isn't necessary. Quart shrubs are 5-10 inches tall when shipped, depending on the season.
  • Hardiness zones: 5-9. Be sure to check your USDA Hardiness Zone if you want this plant to come back year after year.
  • Hand-picked by experienced shippers and delivered fresh from the greenhouse in a 4.5 in. quart container. Plants shipped from November through March will arrive dormant.
  • Proven Winners guarantees all of its plants are correctly packaged in specially designed boxes, arrive in good condition and are accurately labeled.
  • This hibiscus is great for mixed borders, hedges, landscapes, in containers or as a focal point during late summer.
  • To introduce the most unique, highest quality plants, Proven Winners are tested for years in gardens across the world. Our plants are unsurpassed in terms of flowering, growth and garden performance.

Customer Questions & Answers

I live in the Catskills zip code 12701 I need to know if this will grow here and survive our brutal cold winters

Asked by: Donna
Hi Donna, Our Proven Winners Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon should do well for you and be able to survive your cold winters. It is suitable for hardiness zones 5-9. I looked up your hardiness zone and it is 5b. I would just recommend protecting this plant in the winter as much as possible. Mulch around it and also cover it. If it is in a container, you can even bring the container indoors in the winter. If you have any other questions, feel free to call us at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

chiffon blue color choice hibiscus 4.5 qt is it annual pr perennial
Asked by: tfly
Hello, this Hibiscus is hardy up to zone 5. Meaning that the low temperatures that zone 5 experiences are the lowest this plant can go. So depending on when you live in the country will depend on whether this plant is an annual or a perennial. -PW

How blue are the flowers? I've noticed that most plants described as blue are really more purple. Are these really blue?

Asked by: Joy
Hi Joy, The flowers on Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon are blue with a lavender tint. If you look at the images of the flowers, the veins in the center can appear almost dark purple or indigo, spreading out to a lighter petal color of blue-lavender. Hope this helps! Asia

What I received was a 4" twig in a 1 quart container, no growth on this twig, I called the greenhouse Proven Winners and ask why this tree was so tiny and how come I did not receive an established shrub in a 4.5 in.quart as stated, they told me the container is 4.5" tall, not a 4.5 quart container. I will not plant this twig outside this year, some one will probably step on it!
