Hi there, good question!
Yes, this plant is hard with will overwinter in Chicago. Chicago is zone 5b - 6a, depending on where in Chicago you are located. This particular Hibiscus has a hardiness zone rating of 5 - 9, which means it will last over winter in zones 5 though zone 9. In the future, I suggest you remember your zone so you can look on plant tags or in product descriptions to see if they will Read More

The soil in my garden is terrible, as nothing I put in there seems to grow. I wondered if this beautiful plant would grow well in an appropriately sized and drained pot? If so, please could you recommend a pot size?

Hi English1,
Yes, you can grow it in a pot.
Starting this plant as a quart will take some time for it to be large enough to fill out a large container. If you are planting it as a quart, I would recommend a 12" container and then move it to a larger container next year (maybe 16"). If you are looking for quicker color, you can plant more quarts in a larger container, or just order a larger size. We Read More

Answer:
Hi Robin,
Yes, they can grow and thrive in a container.
Please note that each year they will need to be cut back heavily and may not look great in a container during winter months.
Have fun!

Answer:
Hi Bogieboy,
Yes, Chiffon Pink will survive the heat of Mesa, AZ. Mesa is in hardiness zone 8b and Chiffon Pink is good for Zones 5a to 9b. When you plant her just make sure she doesn't dry out while her roots are getting established. Her best feature is her large, lacy pink summer flowers. I hope this helps!
