What did plant look like when you got it?

I have tried ordering some plants online and was disappointed when they arrived. (One literally looked like a stick with no branches or leaves at all). What will this look like when I get it? Will it be green and look good as soon as I plant it??
Asked by: cphict
I received it on late April and the buds were just opening.

Can this plant be in south Florida?

Can this plant be in south Florida?
Asked by: Mern
Hi Mern, The Fire Light Hardy Hydrangea is hardy in zones 3-8. Florida ranges in zones 8-11, 11 being at the southern most point. If you lived in the Florida Panhandle or even a little past Tallahassee you could grow the Fire Light, but southern Florida would be much too hot for it. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Purchased two of the plants from Lowes. Plants were hardy one had several blooms, the other no blooms at time. Planted in the back of house with light morning sun. However the afternoon sun is quite strong. I have covered during that period of the day. However some of the leaves are dark on the edges and curling. Do you think with covering will the plants survive?
Asked by: happy124
How long have they been planted? It could be transplant shock. Mine came with no leaves, but have leaves now. They are nice and green(no curling). Mine get lots of sun in Georgia, AM & PM, until about 5PM. I also water them at least twice a week if no rain. In MD, I had mine in full sun almost all day. Once they are established, I think they will be able to handle the sun much better and you should not have to cover them. I would give them more time. I bet next year they will be fine. But if you are really worried, dig them up now and move them before they get established. Almost all Hydrangeas like AM sun, PM shade, but it has always been my experience that the paniculatas can handle sun better. Good luck!

How well does it do in a planter?Shorty What type of care would it need for it to bloom every year in a planter?
Asked by: Irene
Hi Irene, Proven Winners Fire Light can be grown in a container, just make sure it is large enough. At least a 4 gallon container would be best. We recommend planting your hydrangea in Proven Winners potting soil. To keep it blooming every year, Proven Winners Time Release fertilizer is best for time of planting, and then water soluble fertilizer is important to use once planted. Also, it is important to prune the branches back by about 1/3 of their total length. This is best done in late fall or early spring. If you have any other questions, feel free to call us at (734) 654-7485. Thank you, Hailee

Both had small leaf buds which after planting, have now leafed out and are thriving. The shrubs have only been planted since 3/25/17. They are only about a foot tall, so they may not bloom this year. But they seem to be very healthy and hopefully next year they will provide lots of beauty in my garden. I have always had success with Proven Winners products.

It was pruned closely and has leafed out nicely since it was planted. It's too early to make any judgement of the plant, but if it keeps growing like it has in the few days that it's been in the ground, it should be a great hydrangea.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice shrub, great colors We got this plant recently and firstly the shipping was well done as the packing was done with care. The plant itself was in good shape upon arrival and the bush itself is now thriving. We planted it in well drained soil, with sand underneath top soil. We put in some fertilizer during the planting and watered it well especially during the first week. It is now doing well obviously establishing its roots immediately after planting. I look forward to its flowers next season, as it is closing in on the end of the growing season up here in Massachusetts. Good product shipped to us in great shape. I highly recommend this plant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plants By Mail I received this hydrangea for free in exchange for writing this review. If you don't have a good nursery nearby, this is a great way to get specialty plants. The plants come packaged well, and arrive in the condition of the place they left. In this case the plants shipped from Michigan and arrived in Seattle. Were a little ahead of Michigan right now, so the plants look a little delayed compared to everything else. Don't expect the plants to arrive in bloom like the marketing picture. Also beware of the weather conditions between your house and Michigan. I tried this once before and the plants froze and died. I haven't had these for a full season yet, so I can't comment on the quality of the blooms or the health of the plant.
