Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be planted in a container and if so how big?

Just bought one and don't know where to plant it...
Asked by: Wendy
Yes, but it should be a large container - as large as you can find because the roots will not be able to spread, the growth of the plant will be limited. If you plant in ground, the plant will grow larger. There are planters made for trees which are quite large. That would be what you want. Hope that helps.

SHRUBS OR SMALL TREE'S THAT CAN GO IN THE SHADE

SHRUBS OR SMALL TREE'S THAT CAN GO IN THE SHADE
Asked by: mmbear
Hi mmbear, Red Balloon Viburnum does best in part to full sun and would not thrive in shade. While we do not offer any shrubs or trees that do well in shade, we do have a few perennials that thrive in shade. These would include our Proven Winners Heucheras, such as Dolce Crème Brulee and Dolce Cinnamon Curls. We also offer Proven Winners Heucherellas. Either one of these varieties of perennials would make a lovely addition to your garden and will thrive for your planting conditions. If you have any other questions, feel free to call us at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

Can these be grown in Arizona and what is they have full sun

Asked by: Linda
Hi Linda, Yes, the Red Balloon ColorChoice Viburnum can grow in Arizona, as long as they don't go above their heat zone which is an 8. Some parts of Arizona are zoned higher than this, so you will have to consult the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map to see which zone you are in. The Red Balloon's light requirement is part sun to full sun, so full sun should be no problem for it. If you have any other questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Are the berries edible

Asked by: Hummingbird
Hi Hummingbird, Good question. The Red Balloon ColorChoice Viburnum is generally thought to be safe, if consumed. However, the taste of the fruit can vary from bad to good. Most people do not eat its fruit. I would recommend enjoying the berries visually. If you have any questions please call our hotline at (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

When we finally decided on a spot we planted and it's doing well. So far I'm very happy that it was able to withstand the unpredictable weather here in MD. The shrubs are starting to flower, we bought it about 2 months ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice full plant received well under way... We got this plant recently and put it in near one of our fences to accent that area. It was a very full and obviously vibrant plant when we got it. Since this is the end of the growing season we do not expect many or any flowers, but there were buds on it which looked good. The plant is now thriving after a week in the ground. It sure looks like it will do great next spring, and we are excited to see the colors next season. We are very happy with this plant....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice healthy shrub After having some of my landscaping die over the fall and winter, I needed to replace a few. I chose this because it should have a nice vibrant color throughout the growing season. It came as a nice size shrub for a gallon container and the plant is very healthy. I got it planted and have hoped I wouldn't get any more hard frosts and let it grow. I can't really tell if it has grown since it was planted but it's only been about 3 weeks in the ground with cool nights and some not so sunny days. It is still looking good so hoping the roots are taking hold. Time will tell how it turns out but so far I recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Performer This is a nifty little bush. It grows in a neat globular shape and never needs pruning. Balanced branching habit offers winter interest. Large clusters of white flowers in Spring attracting bees & butterflies, followed by ruby red berries in late summer that turn shiny black before the birds gobble them up. Leaves are nicely cut and turn golden mahogany in Autumn. A true winner all around. No problems. Fruiting is enhanced if you buy Allegheny as companion plant. Two wining performers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Plant- Nice Size I was very surprised to receive such a beautiful and healthy plant. As you can see by the pictures it was packed and cared for very well. Just gorgeous. The stalk is thick and sturdy. You can tell that it is strong and was well cared for. I will be ordering more from this company. I can't wait to see it in full bloom. It looks like a very happy plant and I am very happy too! No instructions but the website has information on each particular plant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice size shrub The shrub ships in the dormant state during the winter. I was advised of it is dormancy before it was shipped. Plant arrived in very good condition and has already shown signs of growth. Hopefully the snow and ice will cease and then it will be planted. Overall this plant should attain the pictured state by late spring or summer.
