my house faces south and I get a lot of direct strong sun. can this plant tolerate that much light and heat if not what would you recommend
Asked by: susan
Hi Susan, Our Superbells Dreamsicle Calibrachoa can tolerate part to full sun and they are heat tolerant. They should do very well for you there. One thing to note is that Calibrachoa do not like to have constantly damp soil. They will do well in the ground but only with good drainage. For most gardeners containers are the best option because if the roots are kept too wet it can lead to root rot diseases. In containers, allow the top of the soil to dry before watering again. If you have any further questions please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Customer Reviews

Superbells Dreamsicle (Calibrachoa) Live Plant, Orange Flowers, 4.25 in. Grande is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Annual superbelle This is a medium size annual plant with pretty blooms and fine foliage. The plant arrived carefully packed in a pot with good soil. It was in good condition upon arrival. After watering and exposure to indirect sunlight the plant flourished and is producing new blooms. This plant is mildly heat tolerant. It is important to water frequently and protect from too much direct heat and sunlight during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! I received the Dreamsicle Calibrachoa to test and review for Home Depot. In most cases I would not be purchasing plants to be delivered but I have never been disappointed the plants that I have received from Home Depot. They always arrive looking extremely healthy. They have vibrant color and strong looking stems and branches. I planted the bush the day after arrival and am looking forward to enjoying it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Let the Bells ring This plant is a great addition to your landscape. It you love Hummingbirds, this plant attracts different types of Hummingbirds. Garden height is 6 - 12 inches with a 12 - 24 inch spread.Flower colors are orange with a green foliage color. Light requirement is partial sun to sun, average water with good drainage. Calibrachoa do not like to have constantly damp soil. They will do well in the ground only with good drainage. When planting Calibrachoa I often give the plants a slight trim, using a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears. While not a necessary step, it will increase branching and may help your plants look even fuller. They will do best if fertilized in a regular basis. Calibrachoa can be sensitive to both high and low pH. If your plants have been growing for a while and then begin to look a bit tired and not so good there are several things to try. If the foliage is yellow there are two possible causes. If you haven't been fertilizing regularly they could simply be hungry and in need of fertilizer. Feed them using a well-balanced (look for something with an n-p-k ration near 20-10-20) water soluble fertilizer. If you have been fertilizing regularly with a well-balanced fertilizer and the foliage is still turning yellow it is probably because the pH range in your soil has gotten a bit high or low. The most common impact of this is that Iron can no longer be taken up by the plant, even if it is available in the soil. The common form of Iron used in fertilizer is sensitive to pH changes. As the season goes on the plants can sometimes just start to look open and not as good. This can happen even if they are being watered and fertilized correctly. Fortunately this is very simple to fix. Grab a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears and give the plants an all over trim. This will cause them to branch out more and should stimulate new growth and flowering, especially if you fertilize right after trimming them back. Just like your hair looks a lot better after a trim, your plants often will too. You will sacrifice flowers for a few days, but the plants should come back flowering more than ever shortly. I will usually give my Superbells a trim back in late July or early August. Since it is difficult to be assured that a plant will do well, Home depot does have a return policy of a certain number of days to return plants that are not doing well iassuming that you have done everything that is recommended as a maintenance plan to follow with the plant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Like The Picture The plants arrived, healthy and blooming even after being shipped in Texas in summer. The plants and the bloom color were just as pictured on the website. They arrived quickly and the shipping containers were obviously designed to protect and secure the plants. I have not had good results in the past buying plants mailorder from other sources, but I am very pleased with this. Proven Winners are sold in many of the garden centers around here and the ones I have bought in the past have always been good quality plants that thrived. I have every reason to expect these will be the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a happy consumer The day my flowerd were delivered, I planted them. when I took them out of the box most of them were either dead or close to it. But i was hoping that when I planted them and took care of them they would spring back to life. Needless to say out of the 12 flower pots only 5 survived. I had to pull thr other 7 out of my garden as they were just brown dead plants. very, very unhappy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arrived in really bad shape! You get what you pay for, cheap price but plant was in bad shape. Arrived dried out, color drained and half dead! Going to have to return this. I could spend a few weeks revitalizing it and getting it to the point it should be on delivery arrival but just not worth it.
