Questions & Answers

When is best time to plant in Florida?

Asked by: Marlene
Hi Marlene, As a general rule of thumb, the best time to plant is in the spring or fall because the milder temperatures are easier on the plants (and you!) while planting. For a more specific date, it will depend on what region of Florida you are in and your hardiness zone. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

how is the clematis propagated? stem cuttings, seeds, ect please inform me all info thank you very much!!!!
Asked by: pam
Hi pam, Our plants are grown from cuttings in temperature, humidity, and light controlled greenhouses for months before they are transplanted into larger containers and grown over the course of months, if not years, before they reach the high quality that we ship. If you have any additional questions, feel free to give us a call at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

Can this plant be potted in a hanging basket?

Asked by: Cadsme
Hi Cadsme, I would be hesitant to plant clematis in a hanging basket. The root system of these plants are very robust and long (they would dangle out of the bottom of your baskets). The first year you plant it, it does not do much besides grow roots. The next year it takes off. If you would like to have the Sweet Summer Love Clematis featured on your deck or patio, I recommend planting it in a large patio container and training it to climb a nearby trellis. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Customer Reviews

Sweet Summer Love (Clematis) Live Shrub, Red-Purple Flowers, 4.5 in. Qt. is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very healthy This plant arrived in very healthy condition. It had several branches near the root so it could be planted slighted below ground to have more likelihood of surviving if one of the branches gets damaged. I was surprised that this was the first clematis I've had that seemed to be eaten by rabbits and I'm not sure if this is because of this particular plant or the location. I put some fencing around it until it grows bigger and it is continuing to thrive after six weeks/ There are no flowers so far but this might be because of the original size of the plant, since the proven winners clematis that I got in a 1 gallon container has already been blooming.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Healthy plant Small but growing nicely. Would have preferred in store puck up but could not find that option so had to pay shipping.
