Customer Questions & Answers

Will this plant survive &/or thrive in dappled sun?

It will be in a border near the street
Asked by: bigphyl85
Hi bigphyl85, Yes, the Tuff Stuff Hydrangea can survive and thrive in dappled sun. Its general sunlight requirement is 4+ hours of direct sun a day. However, hydrangeas generally prefer direct morning sun and dappled sun in the afternoon, as it provides relief from the extreme afternoon heat. If it is an area that only receives dappled sun, the hydrangea might require dappled sun for a longer period of time than it does with direct sunlight. It is important that hydrangeas get their necessary amount of sunlight because this will affect their ability to set buds and flower. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Will this hydrangea survive in Pasco, WAshington?

Will this hydrangea live in Pasco, wa. 99301?
Asked by: Lorin
I would think so. I live in Northeast Ohio and the weather can be in the 90's in the summer and 15 below in the winter. I would plant it in morning sun and afternoon shade. Even in this hot and humid weather we've been having, mine are growing like crazy.

Tuff Stuff Reblooming (Mountain Hydrangea) Live Shrub, Blue, Pink, and Purple Flowers, 4.5 in. Qt. is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from When the Tuff Stuff hydrangeas first arrived, the 1 quart size, they looked mostly dead. BUT now... When the Tuff Stuff hydrangeas first arrived, the 1 quart size, they looked mostly dead. BUT now that it's later in March they are growing leaves on most of the little branches. I'm holding off planting them for a little while and keeping them in a protected place. We have had a later winter than usual. It's now starting to warm up to 50+ each day and we are having lots of rain so I will plant them soon. I live just north of Seattle (by about 5 miles). In their pots they are showing more and more leaves all the time so I have high hopes for these fascinating and lovely hydrangeas. I couldn't buy them locally so took a chance on mail order. I'm happy with the results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Hardy Plant Pretty hardy plant - I had to keep watch and careful attention during the first few weeks just because it is dry and hot. During the recent cold period, it doesn't get as much sunlight, but I still tried to get it some water. this is also planted on my hillside where it is planted somewhat remotely. So far, it is hanging in there. No complaints, Happy so far, just have to be patient so that it really takes root.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very, very happy The hydrangeas arrived in 2 days amid very hot temps. They were in very good condition. They are small which is what I wanted. I'm so happy with them, I've ordered 3 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Packed I was very impressed with the packaging (see pictures). I have never ordered potted plants on the Internet before. The tag indicates that this hydrangea will grow to be 2.5' x 2.5'. There seem to be really good varieties to chose from compared to the limited selection in the store. I ordered 4 plants. They all arrived in the same box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not so tuff With a name like "Tuff Stuff" I was hoping that this would be a hardy plant ... but no such luck. I have average gardening experience, but I couldn't keep this alive for even a week. It's a shame, because I was really looking forward to seeing it bloom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product is not for online orders They came dormant and after one month they still have no leaves at all. it is better to buy them in the stores and with flowers on it already since it can take 1 to 2 years for you to see their flowers if u buy them online. I purchased one last year that did not gave me flowers, and I purchased 5 this year and they look death. So you end up paying too much for no flowers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good! I received this through mail order and in a dormant stage. It came in perfect condition, trimmed nicely, and potted in damp soil. It is now waking up, sprouting a couple of green leaves and in good shape. Since it hasn't bloomed yet, I cannot comment on the flowering cycle, but the roots looked good and everything looks good so far. It looks healthy, so I am very hopeful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks to be a good addition to the landscape The plant certainly looks healthy and arrived in excellent condition (ordered from online). It's one of the "Proven Winner" plants, and based on my previous experiences I have no doubt this plant will do well. It has a few buds on it, but since it's so late in the summer I'm not sure what sort of bloom there will be on it this year. I'm definitely looking forward to having this added "pop" in the landscape.
