Product Overview

With its superior cutting ability the DSH/E emits only a quiet hum while cutting wood up to 50 mm (1-1/2 in.), plastic up to 30 mm (13/16 in.), and non-ferrous metals up to 10 mm (13/32 in.). The DSH/E also cuts effortlessly Plexiglas, fiberglass, foam, leather, or cork. The free swinging saw blade holder takes standard saw blades with pin ends. However, blades without pin ends may also be clamped safely by means of a toggle screw. The slender saw arm allows for a clear view to the back of work piece, and a quick tension release lever is ideal for frequent inside cuts. The dust blower with adjustable nozzle ensures clear sight of the work piece and cutting line. The machine base is made from solid cast iron with rubber feet minimizing vibrations (may also be bolted down). The table is extremely stable with a large work area of 14 5/32 in. x 10 1/2 in. (360 x 270 mm) and can be tilted 45° for miter cuts. Vacuum cleaner and dust extractor are side-mounted allowing for a dust-free environment. The machine comes with 5 coarse and 5 fine saw blades each. Scroll Saw DSH/E is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The great thing about this item is there is very little assembly Great working machine. Works as advertised. I like that there is very little assembly required. Out of the box and ready to go! Only one suggestion, it should come with a light!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Scroll Saw Background: I have general DIY experience with woodworking; however, I had never used a scroll saw before. I went to Youtube videos and books for instruction. General: This seems to be a good saw for craft-type woodworking. Using a scroll saw is more like wood carving than using a miter saw. I will try to provide some perspective that I think relates more to the saw than to my level of experience. For most of my work so far I have used a plain-end number 5 skip-tooth blade that did not come with the saw. There are two photos. One shows the top view with a couple of cat cut-outs made on the saw. The other shows how the blade attaches below the table. Specifics: It is easy for me to reach the power switch and tension adjustment knob. It is very easy to change pin-end blades. Plain end blades (pin-less blades) take a bit of practice to change. The tricky part is the bottom attachment. The blade must go into the proper place in the slot on the bottom holder. You then must tighten the so-called cheesehead nut (hex nut) with a tool that is provided. Attachment on the top side is fairly easy. The blade goes to the back side of the slot and is held by turning a knob. (Note the saw was shipped with a pin-end blade installed. Contrary to the instructions it was tightened in place with the nuts. You may want to remove the blade and re-install before your first use.) The plastic guard seemed to get in my way. I found it easy to adjust blade tension. The table was flat and angle gauge well adjusted right out of the box. The test sawing method showed 90 degrees between the blade and table with the gauge set to zero. The blower tube can be adjusted to provide a gentle stream of air that is sufficient to remove saw dust from the wood. It take a bit of practice to get the tube in the right spot. It can also be easily moved out the way. With no load the saw is very quiet. While cutting it is still fairly quiet when gently feeding the wood. The saw was missing two of the rubber feet. I called Prox-Tech service and they sent out those parts at no charge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead on arrival Used the smaller Proxxon model for abt. 20 years. Upgraded to this one because it had larger, tilting table and quick-release saw blader holder. Unfortunately, saw was dead on arrival, would not turn on at all. Pro: Home depot allowed quick return & refund.
