can i use this to replace 1965 sylvania stereo amp?? speakers crossover network impediance is 8 ohms/channel.

We have a 1965 Sylvania Stereophonic High Fidelity Stereo with a failed power amp. Peak power rating of 110 watts per channel. Will this work ??
Asked by: Bob
Yes, but the usable power will be a little more than half because 8 ohm speakers reduce a 4 ohm power rating. Most home audio components like this usually state power into 8 ohms because most home speakers are 8 ohms. When you go to 4 ohms, the speaker load is doubled, however to get true power doubling from an amp to match the load that is going to cost you $$$ for home stereo components. So, you will probably have about 75w to 85w available instead of 120w for an 8 ohm speaker per channel. BTW, this component is called an integrated amplifier as it has power and controls, but no AM/FM radio tuner. A receiver has all three in one chassis.

Can u run a 15 inch Rockerfosgate sub of this

Asked by: jin
Subwoofer require much more power than regular speakers. If your subwoofer is a "powered" sub, then the answer is yes. If the subwoofer draws it's power from the reciever/amplifier, then no... there is just not enough power here to drive a subwoofer and a pair of speakers.

Unit performs as expected when installed and on first use. The brightness of the flashing level lights have been reduced from what I've seen on similar models. They are still a little brighter than I would like in a dark booth. The standard type speaker connections didn't open fully the way I would expect. A little assistance with a knife blade did the trick. I like it. Properly sized to the job, it's a good 4.5 star amp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does exactly what we expected it to do So far so good with this amp. It has more than enough power to drive the wall mounted speakers attached to it. Three separate inputs and a mic input is plenty for our purposes. The main drawback is the LED's on the front are way too bright. We keep a piece of paper over them. Other than that, we are totally happy with this purchase.
