4-Channel 960H 500GB Surveillance System with (2) 900TVL Camera, 100 ft. Night Vision is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Remember this is an analog system Great system but not HD. If you want a clear picture of a face or licence plate at 20 feet, buy a HD system. But is great for general out door viewing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system at a great price. This is a great system that is easy to install and set up. I do recommend that you plan your cable path and the placement of the DVR. I put mine in a room where I have a hardwired ethernet port so I could more easily connect it to the network. The DVR is compact and easy to store yet it comes with a 500 GB hard drive that is more than enough storage for most applications. .You will need to scare up a monitor to use with the system. The night vision camera does surprisingly well in the dark. The set up for remote monitoring is easy enough and straight forward. Overall this is a great system!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best for "tech" savie installers This is a tough item to review. All of the equipment is first rate quality and the picture is crystal clear. But the software for remote viewing is rediculously hard to install. If you are a "techie", this is right up your alley, but if not, you won't be able to do it without contacting tech support. I had to and I must give the folks at QSee high marks for excellent customer service. There was no waiting as there was immediate response to my chat request. And they did do the connection for me over the Internet after about 30 minutes. The person with average computer knowledge won't have a clue, but don't be discouraged, help is but a click away. With that said, this is a very high quality system with excellent customer support.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missing or Mis-leading information Rating is really unknown because there is no mention in ad that the monitor must be 19 inches or that it had to be a 1080P. I have to get a new monitor first and that changes the value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple System but High Quality This is a high quality security system suitable for small applications such as residential applications or small commercial applications. Q-See products are well-built, look good, and work as intended. It is not my first experience with Q-See as I’ve installed my first system almost a year ago and it works like a charm. I also dealt with Q-See customer service during the last year and they respond promptly to emails and phone calls. This specific 4-channel system comes with two (2) bullet type cameras only. You can add two (2) more cameras if needed but make sure you verify which cameras work best for your application before purchase. I recommend sticking with Q-See cameras and maybe even check out their dome cameras as I’ve had good experience with those for indoor applications. The hard drive is built into the DVR and it has a storage capacity is 500GB. I couldn’t find info whether this is expandable like my other system but there are higher storage options available such as 1TB if needed. My other system is also 500GB and I’m totally satisfied with this capacity. The 960H resolution is equivalent to 960x480 which I find suitable for a wide screen TV. The cameras with this system are 900TVL but I’m not sure if I’m gaining much in terms of quality when compared to my 700TVL cameras, knowing that the DVR is 960H anyway. I will call Q-See and see whether those improve quality with a 960H system. Needless to say that the cameras are suitable for outdoor installation and also operate in night mode as they have the IR LEDs. I’m not sure about the claimed 100ft night vision range, but I find it challenging to identify a person at 100ft during daytime, let alone in night mode! The system is well-packed in one box, and when you open the box you find two other boxes along with packing material. The DVR has its own package with a QA seal and the cameras and other items are in another package. You will receive the products intact. When I received the package and confirmed that all items and components were supplied, I used the quick-start guide that explains all installation and setup steps with supporting images. Set up is simple but if you haven’t installed similar systems you need to take your time. I strongly recommend temporarily installing your cameras for a few hours or days to make sure you got the right location and angles before you permanently fix them and run the cables. Cable length is 60ft which is suitable for most applications. I tested the Q-See Apps on my previous system and I’m sure it works in a similar fashion on this system. It is useful at times and user friendly. Recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surveillance Cameras & DVR Solid Industry standard. The Software makes the System NICE! Out of the BOX: Hardware for a Kitty Cam 2 Bullet Cameras. Nice weight sturdy metal - Shield needs adjusting, it protects the camera in case of an attack by Kitty, or shields it from the sun. These will be placed in a dark bathroom to be on Pooh patrol. 60ft of BNC cable doesn't appear to be FIRE rated - I would like that labeled on the Cable. READ the Markings on the BNC although it will fit on both the Camera and the DVR it should only be used with the end specifically marked Camera and DVR. 1 DVR 500 Gig Drive. The size of the DVR is great for a small space, 7 1/2 Square by 1 1/2 Deep. 1 Electrical Cord for the 2 cameras and one that is MARKED for the DVR. Cables: hdmi, Ethernet but they are too short for any set up I have. I think most people would find them too short, probably 6ft. Remote Control and a Mouse Literature, attractively printed. Signs, 8 Surveillance warning signs for your windows. I particularly like that. This set up nicely on top of my fridge with my cheap garage sale HP Monitor. This is a temporary set up to monitor my cats behavior in different areas. Too many wires right now, but as Security systems go that is still safer from hacks than wireless. The cameras were used in a bathroom to monitor my cats. Since the move from one side of the house to the other, I have some bad behavior and the possibility of a sick cat. Night Visions on the Camera did not work well in a dark small bathroom to see a cat inside the bathtub. It goes black at only about 15 ft and adjusting the Color display for more light didn't work. The solution, I'm leaving the light on in the bathroom. I want to monitor the cats when working online, I set up the internal Ethernet connection for my desktop. Piece of cake. It installs itself after you input the IP address on your browser. It detects your IP and even tells you what to type in your browser. Hook up the Ethernet cable to your router, plug in the DVR. The start up system helps you set up the connection to your computer quickly. I was asked to download a small file to update my system for viewing the QSee monitors on my desktop. No problems installing on an older, and slower computer. I wanted to set up the external viewing system to test it. First time I get a pop up window from my Anti-virus program telling me the file the QSee address wants me to download is a Virus, DevFetcher. This is a problem I've seen before with online security, it generally requires you lax your security to view remotely by installing a program that subjects your desktop to security risks. This isn't just a problem with QSee, it is just a result of attaching it to the internet. I skipped that for now until I know and understand what risks I'm taking when installing their software for remote viewing. I found a program at their website called Super Player that takes their recorded footage and converts it to AVI. This looks easy and exactly what I've been looking for. It set up on my desktop quickly and has an easy interface. The DVR Software is what impressed me the most about the entire system. You start with a basic Menu by pressing the Menu button on the Remote. Multiple menus show for Backups and updates with big icons. It will take a few sessions working with it to learn but it is very easy to use and worth it. Stopping now to check the other window in my browser with live feed to my cats in the bathroom on the QSee "Web Client". One cat is in the bathtub. I'm leaving the review for a minute to do a pooh check. Back/ The Cameras do have a ZOOM feature that can be used with the remote. I found it wasn't working to re-position the Camera to be able to zoom to the bathtub while also using it to watch the entire room. Glitch, the Zoom pulls to the left of the camera. It will take some time working with the software for me to find glitches that make it unusable for one thing or another but so far it's VERY GOOD! I do see where the beginning of my DVR has a recording on it from someone on a Silver Stool testing the gear, I hope that is at QSee. Now that was weird. Great 2 Camera with DVR set for a portable or temporary solution. Last, I like that the DVR has a sound system. The cameras do not but I could attach one to the DVR, that can make it much easier to monitor my cats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be Aware....Something not mentioned!!!! Thought this seemed like a good deal...but went to attach it to my old 15inch wouldnt turn on,so tried pulling power cable,re attaching, montior still wouldnt turn on,so i thought it was bad,but then i tried it on my laptop, turned straight knew it wasnt the monitor,So then looked through the enclosed one corner(in small print it said"can only be used with 19inch monitors and up"!!!!!!!I couldnt believe it why would a company make it so you couldnt use any size!!!so that meant i had to try find a cheap 19inch at a thrift store, which i had to buy a new one..called tech support (india of course!!)about the 19inch monitor thing..they said it was a "feature"i said well a pretty terrible one to force customers to have to buy bigger screens..when other companies let you use whatever size you have!!plugged it in..system booted up...couldnt find anything about default password had to look online...then when cameras came on....colours were washed out,and one camera had text menu all over the picture saying white balance,save/exit etc!!!!and no way to get rid of followed the instruction to reset the cameras to sort out washed out look(and thought it would get rid of text menu off cam...did not... still washed out, text still there..i looked everywhere trying to figure out how to get rid of it...nothing..end result took it back...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Starter System Pulling and stapling cables, drilling, and driving in screws. This is what my installation involved, and I'm sure your installation will be similar! Be sure to kind of detail out a sketch of where you want the cameras installed and how you plan to get to each spot. Before you install the cameras, place them at those locations and make sure it looks good on the system. Doing this prior to final installation will give you a great idea of whether or not the camera will work. I installed mine at the front and back of the house, overlooking those areas. I realize these two views will only show me objects far away; no detail up close. But you could definitely install one closer to the front door to see and identify visitors or contractors and so on with better focus and clarity. The cameras also have swivel locks so you can change the directional view in what I believe is 3 axis. What I like the most about this camera system, is the HDMI port for my TV. I can quickly change inputs on the television over to the camera views, on the fly. Not only that, but I can view the video feeds over the internet. The quality of the videos are quite good. The 500GB hard drive gives me plenty of space for recording! I also like that the cameras were for both approved for inside and outside; this gave me more options during the initial design phase. The User Manual, as well as the guide for connecting the DVR to the internet, have pretty much everything you would want to know about the system and its capabilities. Even their customer support is superb. I wish more companies cared about their products as much as these guys do. If you want a starter system, this is a great place to start. You can add two more cameras to the system in the future if you wish. Q-See is a great brand, and they have a ton of other different electronic solutions to match your needs if this product in particular does not. Again, consider the areas you would like to be able to see on a camera system, and go from there. The quality of the parts are spot on, and the design is solid. I would definitely recommend this product for the quality, features, and customer support.
