This particular item is designed to be plugged into a standard receptacle. It does not draw enough power to require a separate 120VAC breaker or feed, and is considered a low voltage distribution panel with fuse protected outputs.
Cameras that have plug in connectors are meant for convenience. You can cut these off but be careful of polarity. Some cameras do not have protection against reversed voltage Read More

Cameras that have plug in connectors are meant for convenience. You can cut these off but be careful of polarity. Some cameras do not have protection against reversed voltage and you can damage them. There are pigtails available from 3rd party sources that allow you to plug the camera into and then provide pigtails for proper connection. again, be careful to observe proper polarity. Read Less

For battery backup, a professional grade power supply is required. A Special charging circuit for the battery and a high capacity power supply are both required. Length of time for backup using a proper power supply is determined by AH rating of battery and charging circuit. Over 24 hours is possible, but not with this unit. This is an economy power supply, not one that a professional installer would Read More

Hi J.Myst, I reached out to the manufacture to get you an answer. The manufacture stated you can not connect a battery power back up directly to the Power distribution panel.
However you can connect the battery power back up thru a UPS. A battery power backup will not give you much in backup time. Hope this answered your question.

Answer:
NO. There is no charging circuit in this unit. It does not have enough power to operate the DVR. A much higher power PS is required with an output rated sufficiently for the DVR.
Some people mistakenly put a rechargeable battery across the power output to gain battery backup. This will only destroy the battery and possibly damage the PS. A battery charging circuit is required for this and is not Read More

Answer:
Hi Jay,
This power distribution panel is for the cameras not for the DVR. All our Q-See DVR's come with a power adapter. The 12Volt DC power distribution panel is able to divide the electrical Supply source into multiple circuits, with a separate fuse or circuit breaker for each camera in a common enclosure.
Their is no battery but a power adapter to connect to an outlet.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy, works fine. used as replacement for earlier power module for q-see camera system whose power module recently gave out. This model needs to be directly wired, as opposed to my earlier model which had 'plug's built in. Polarity is important. I guessed wrong initially and none of the cameras worked, just got a blank screen. Switched the wires around and all was good again. April 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by power distribution panel Took a little longer than I would have liked for it to arrive but it was a fair price and good product. December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Check the Fuses Mine came with 2A fuses vice the 1 amp that was needed and supposed to be installed. The docs say that both sizes are included in the box, along with six spares. Four extra 2 amp fuses were included but no 1 amp. After buying the 1 amps and swapping them out, it seems to be working correctly. August 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value I bought this to replace individual AC adapters not only is it a cleaner installation but I have the peace of mind that as the wires age outside,or something short-circuits this power supply has built in fuses, giving me the peace of mind that I am protected July 21, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works fine, the metal box is poorly welded if welded at all. Just be careful handling it when installing. The outer box came un-welded if welded at all when I tried to remove a knockout from the top of the box. January 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by the power box has the amps I needed I have used this box in the past, for about 18 months with no issues it is built a little better than some but at a little more cost. when purchasing a power supply make sure you get the proper volts, watts, amps ect. per camera this unit was purchased to run 8 Q-see cameras. The only thing they could do would be to include power pig tails July 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good power box It is a power box, small, and does the trick. My camera installer really liked it. April 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked ok One of the ports didn't work on initial use. Replaced bad fuse, then it worked ok. I guess they didn't test all ports on power panel. July 31, 2013
