Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ellen This product is everything we wanted and more.
We purchased this product on line after researching the features. We received it in a reasonable time, shipped to our home. We already had a camera system, this system was an upgrade. After installation we were surprised at how much better the cameras and recordings were, you could really tell the difference. The system program gives us more options and is very easy to learn and use. We have it feed to our computers as well as the monitor. We would recommend this produce to anyone.

Installed 3 cameras outside and 1 camera inside. Mounted the DVR in a secret spot in case thieves try to steal everything inside the entertainment center, the DVR will keep running and hopefully record.
So far, caught a couple of cats out on the cars and a punk kid stealing our pumpkin on halloween.

Seen this on sale couldn't pass up the price. Cameras have really great pictures day and night vision is really good also very pleased, except for trying to get system online, no paper manual just a cd, guess I'm old fashioned. Doesn't keep me from recommending it though, would be great for business applications too, cameras very clear not grainy like most.

Now i know what's going on at night around my property. After only 3 nights I spotted the crooks who stole my gas cans a week ago and RV batteries earlier in the year. This time they were looking in my yard for more stuff they could rip off. I'm pretty sure they noticed the cameras glowing in the dark. People like them know these things because they're crooks. They haven't been back since.
This is the reason I purchased this system....low cost, easy install, immediate results. I grab a cup of coffee every morning and breeze through video footage of the night before. I see what my kids are doing, the neighbors, lurking animals and how often the police patrol my street.
It's also pretty cool that I can monitor all this from anywhere using my iPhone. I can see the kids and wife swimming in the pool from wherever. My friends think that's pretty cool too. Bet they'll have one set up soon themselves.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nelson1200 This product exceeded my expectations
This product had the features that other brands lacked and also was very user friendly.
The cameras included in this system are 600TVL resolution which are very good compared to other packaged systems that come with 420TVL. The cameras provide a clear and true color representation with the IR cut filter. At night the IR LEDs provide just the right amount of light within a reasonable distance.
The DVR is very compact and doesn't take up too much space for an 8-channel system. It records at Full D1 resolution for all 8 channels which I believe is today's minimum standard compared to older outdated systems that record at CIF resolution. This DVR also included an option to connect cameras that have built-in microphones so that you may record audio as well. The DVR has user friendly menus and is pretty simple to setup with or without the easy to follow fold-out instructions.
Accessing the DVR from an outside network didn't present any problems after properly configuring the router and setting up a Dynamic DNS account. I was impressed with software provided by the manufacturer when accessing the DVR from my smartphone. The quality of the live feed viewing of the cameras was high as expected. I was very impressed by the feature of being able to search and play back files stored on the DVR from my smartphone. Playback of the video files was very fast with no lag and was very smooth.
I had only two cons with this system. One was that I needed wider angle cameras. The specifications did not indicate the size of the lens which determine the viewing angle. These cameras seem to have come with 5 or 6mm lens. I had to place these cameras further away from my original intended locations to make up for the narrower views. I did purchase separately 4 more cameras that had a wider angle view (3.2mm lens) to add to this system.
Overall, I would highly recommend this system for anyone looking to install a decent system on a budget. I would also recommend this system to those needing to replace an older system.

Q-See makes surveillance systems for just about every size home or business and for just about any budget. I think this particular model is perfect for the average home owner trying not to break the bank but still wanting a quality system. There are models that come with more cameras, higher resolution cameras, larger DVRs, remote controls, etc. but this one does the job nicely.
Everything needed is included with this system. The four included cameras have a 700 TVL resolution. That is more than sufficient to identify someone coming onto your property. The 1 TB hard drive is quite large and will hold days of video footage. The system is controlled by a small mouse that plugs into the back of the DVR. I quickly dug out an old full size mouse I had to replace it. Even with my smallish hands, the included mouse was a pain to use.
Hooking everything up for testing was a breeze. The hard part is actually installing the system (at least for me). I have a 2800 sq. ft. two-story home. Normally I would run the cables in the attic but being in a two-story home, that would have the cameras too far up. Right now I'm still trying to figure the best way to get everything setup. The DVR is also an issue since it needs to be connected to the router if you want remote access. Don't let any of this discourage you. Just take it into consideration and plan ahead.
I was quite surprised and very pleased with the large amount of options this system offers (despite being one of the cheaper models). You can set up schedules for recording. You can record only when motion is detected. You can decrease the video quality the DVR records at to allow greater recording time along with numerous other options.
I love the remote monitoring but must say that it takes some know how to set up. A decent knowledge of your router is needed. I build computers and set up my wireless router myself but still felt challenged getting the remote access up and running. My best advice is to read the directions well, get some help, or go the pro install route. Despite all the effort to install, the security and peace of mind you get from having it makes it all worth while.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Morgan Good product - no manual
Nice product but I haven't figured out how to get the videos onto another drive. This may not be the products fault though. No good manual with product. You need to find it online someplace.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anthony Awesome system
This is a great deal. The same system on amazon is 100$ more and only has a 500GB hard drive, this is 1TB!!!! I Hooked up the dvr and monitor first so I could test the cameras and set up the remote/mobile viewing. This way I can use my phone app to adjust the cameras when I install them without walking inside 1000 times to make them perfect. Setting up the mobile app settings on the network was a paint at first because I don't have a plug and play router. I called q see customer service 2 times and AT&T 1 time before I got it working. The q see customer service was awesome and very helpfull. Hold time was a little longer than I hoped for but all was well. 5 stars so far
