Customer Questions & Answers

What is the performance difference between the 120v and the 240v?

Asked by: Rider
Wiring it for 240VAC makes available a 4KW heater as opposed to the 120VAC 1KW heater. I know if is saves any energy but it heats the tub in a quarter of the time. It also keep up with heat loss better when you are using the spa.

Do you have to add purifiers to the water or does the ozonator keep the water pure?

Asked by: mermer
The Oxonator just breaks down organic matter. You still have to maintain water balance: PH & Total Alkalinity. You just don't have to add bromine or chloride daily. I find that because of low water volume in a 2-man tub you have to check the PH & Total alkalinity quite often (depending on use). We also throw some SHOCK OXIDIZER in every so often to help with organic br4eakdown. We use our spa daily. We also use WATER CKLARIFIER occasionally when the water starts getting cloudy.

how heavy is it with out water

Asked by: john
The tub itself is about 300 pounds unfilled. I managed with my athletic daughter to put it on a 4-wheel dolly on its ide and roll it over to our 30" wide door. From there we levered it up on cardboard packing material and managed to slide it over the carpet and tip it up into place. It was hard, but doable. I'd suggest a minimum of 3 people to put it in place and 4 if you got the help. It is awkward size & shape so a 4-wheel dolly to balance it on and roll it into position is almost a must. It is delivered crated up to curbside. So add an extra 100# or so at delivery. Hint: Leave the cardboard foam sheets in place until final positioning to prevent scratches.

Can this be placed on a deck as is, and can it be counter sunk into a deck. what is the total weight with water please

Asked by: thenabn
Can be placed on strong (supported) deck as it is sent. Total weight about 1,500 lbs. Can be counter sunk in the deck, (I have done this too). While I liked it counter sunk, I took it out and placed it on the deck. It is easier to use when surface mounted. Easier to service, easier to get in and out of, easier to clean when surface mounted. The small stairs are useful but not required.

Customer Reviews

Sicily 2-Person Plug and Play 16-Stainless Steel Jet Spa with Ozonator, LED Light, Polar Insulation and Hard Cover is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comprehensive user review My wife and I ordered this 2-man spa about 6 months ago and use it daily. I thought it would be a good idea to review it now and let people know what its limitations are. First of all, the spa itself is heavy (300# empty) and appears well built. We had to wrestle it sideways but it just (barely) fits through a 30" door frame. Setting it up was a breeze. just fill and plug in. Most of the issues we have are with the practical limitations of a 2-man spa. The heater works on 110volts or 220. I strongly recommend the 220 electrical feed as 110 is feeble for the heater. It heats up OK, but the instant you turn on the air jets it cools down far too rapidly. You lose about a degree of heat every 6-7 minutes as the heater can't keep up. Wiring up to 220 will double the heat output of the ether and is strongly recommended. But this is not a design limitation, it is a limitation of how much heater current a 110v 30amp circuit can provide--hence the option for 220v. The second practical limitation is water volume. I'm a big guy with a small wife. The optimum water level is just over the lip of the skinner. Anymore water than this and the tub overflows when we both get in. The problem is that water evaporates quite quickly and falls below the skimmer lip often enough that additional water needs to be added at least after every 2 uses. I strongly recommend the Ozonator option. But even with that the low water volume means maintaining chemical balance is an almost daily chore. It takes awhile to get the hang of just how much chemical is needed to bring the water back to perfect. As it is I have been totally replacing all the water about once ever 40 days or so because we use the spa daily. A filter seems to last about the same amount of time before clogging up and needing replacement. I would also suggest getting the 'heavy' cover to trap heat in--especially if 220v is not an option. To summarize, mechanically the spa is a good deal. It appears solid and we have had no mechanical issues at all! But the limitations of the water volume in a two-man spa are such that in the future, I would probably go with a bigger spa. However, if space is limited, and you understand the limitations and extra work a 2-man spa will entail, then I recommend this one due to its solid workmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great purchase Received spa in 9 days. The trucking company SAIA was great. Was able to track order easy. They called at set a delivery date easy for me and set it down in my driveway. Have been using it almost every day and it is more than i hoped for. It took about 8 hours to reach temp on first fill. All the jets are great one end sits lower than the other so you can change ends for different back areas. The temp stays hot at all times, I was worried that on 120v 15amp might not be enough.I did have a new 20amp line put in just for the spa. The cover that comes with it is very good and a must for dirt and temp control. I did call QCA spas to ask how to open side for access and they were a great help. He even gave me advice on how to remove filter. You can also call them at any time for help. Get one you won't be sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great little tub Filter is small but I discovered that I can stack 2 filters together. I made a coupler from a 2`` barb fitting cut down to 1`` long, saving the center. This is a big help with filtration process. I use this tub everyday. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent 2 person spa I have owned this spa for a couple weeks now and I have to say I love it. I was able to get it on-sale and there is no way to beat the features that this spa offered for the price. The build quality is excellent. Four of the Jets are adjustable, one on each seat and the two foot jets in the well. Adjusting these can really change the pressure of the other jets, allowing a nice degree of control. I'm running off a 120v outlet, the tub heated quickly and easily maintains its heat when using the included cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from one month out and LOVE this SPA!! Have had this spa for just about a month and love it. It heated up in one day, not three as some have confused with a cheaper spa of similar model. It also is very easy to maintain using the Spa-Frog system. Customer service is great, just ask for Susan!

We wired it for 240 VAC to take advantage of the better heater. We were not happy with the construction of the opening to the equipment under the spa. It was reconstructed to make it a lot more sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hot tub Had one of these for five years or so and loved it. Bought this one for our next home. Price is comparable to other places on the net except here you can buy the full system and I like that. The ozonator comes pre-installed -- that is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase Have had it about a month and have only missed two days without using it. Great way to relax at night. Jets are very powerful and the smaller size makes it easier to control the levels.
