Answer:
There should be no reason it could not ... however, you will need the plate to be vertical so the water container will stay above the drill bit

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great on porceline. One of very few products that will drill Priceline tile October 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didnt last I was using the bit to drill through 1 in quartz. He was imersed in water the entire time. It made it halfway and then the diamond ring broke off September 27, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Got the job done I had 10 holes to drill in 3/8" impervious porcelain tile with a glazed face. It took me maybe 2-3 minutes per hole of actual drilling. The idea is good but this is a cheap system that is really just enough to get you through. My Wife helped me by pouring water in the delivery cup while I drilled. The doubled backed tape didn't really hold while getting wet. And the plastic sleeve the drill bit goes through don't stay in place. I don't regret this purchase because it's cheap and it got it done. It is easier with two people. February 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't stick Did not work at all on my porcelain tiles. The sticky pads wouldnt adhere to the wall and slid off after the first second of using with the drill. Caused scratches on one of the tiles. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product for porcelain tile! We were almost finished with our bathroom remodel and realized a regular ceramic tile bit wouldn't cut through the porcelain tile. It made installing the towel rack brackets a breeze! Thanks Home Depot for carrying this product in stock! January 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Drill bit Dont like very much try better bosh drill bits works a lot better July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best tool for tile EVER Without a doubt this was the best tool I have ever purchased for tile, and I have purchased a lot. Yes you will run out of sticky pads, get someone to hold it. The bit cut through porcelain tile in less than 45 seconds ... last hole took a few seconds longer. Anyone complaining must not follow instructions ... this work as promised and for the price it over delivered. July 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bit is adequate Was able to install all of the bathroom fixtures onto the porcelain walls with the one bit. It worked OK but is not that easy to use.! July 19, 2016
