Questions & Answers

Can i use this to cut 2-1/4" pavers?

I would like to find a good saw that will be able to cut pavers but i didn't see the max material thickness that this could cut.
Asked by: pavers
Yes, but it depends on the blade diameter. 10" blade can cut up to 3 3/4" thick pavers.

Is this saw able to cut wine bottles? If so, do I need a different blade?

Asked by: loriann
you could but I would get a higher quality diamond blade, the one from the manufacturer is of poor quality, and go very slow on your cuts and be sure water pump is set to high volume output

Customer Reviews

2 HP Dual Speed Wet Tile Saw is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not same quality/BROKEN upon arrival This is a great cheap 10", 2hp wet saw. I've owned 3 of them in the past 15 years. Some changes have been: table has been changed from metal to plastic along with the blade guard. Somewhat disappointing. Overall, same dimensions, features. Not as easy to put together, hole match up is slightly off. As for Home Depot, good timetable on delivery. BROKEN water tray upon arrival caused by delivery service. Knowing Home Depot's history on customer service...I have decided to buy a new tray instead of "discussing" for the next few months with HD about replacement. Overall good buy and good experience. Disappointed with plastic parts.

New blad wobbled. Conclusion spindle needed bearings repacked....QEP was hard to get hold of but had no problem sending me a new motor couldn't wait tho returned it

It cuts better and the belt will not bump into the belt guard screws which started to shred the belt. Easy fix but I would put a better quality belt on as well or keep a spare handy.

I would recommend this saw to homeowner-DIY types who are dithering between renting a saw or buying one. You'll pay more than renting, but you'll be able to take your time and have a tool to use in years to come. I am a woman with pathetic upper body strength and was nervous about first time use of this saw. I had absolutely no issues operating the saw and it's tile cutting ability outweighed my performance expectations. So far I have installed 75 SF porcelain tile floor on the diagonal and it performed very well. I did order an additional blade specific for porcelain ~$40. I thought the table would be too small for diagonal cuts, but had no problems with 13x13 tiles. The good - It does the job. It cuts tiles no problem at the slower factory set RPM. Customer service was awesome - you get to talk to a real person. The bad - Nothing too major. The manual is a joke, so do plan on spending a little extra time assembling. There were pieces missing, however they were promptly shipped by QEP customer service. The stand was machined improperly, so the company sent me a whole new stand. (I ended up not using the stand because it seemed way to top heavy, but probably good if you need mobility.) The saw depth knob made me nervous the whole time because it seemed rather cheap and I thought it might slip while cutting and causing damage to the table, but I never had a problem. The water pump tubing did leak outside of the water pan, but some teflon tape fixed that. One aggravating feature is the electric power for the saw and the water pump are separate, so any time you have to turn the saw on, you have to plug in. That said if the pump ever fails it would be extremely easy to replace. The water is held in the tray with a rubber beaker type stopper which I thought would leak everywhere, but it remained water tight. (I still would not even think about operating indoors.) I would not recommend this saw for professionals; I don't think it would last nor have extra features they would like. This is just a basic tile saw. I would recommend checking out QEP website before purchasing to see which model is current and try not to buy a discontinued model just in case parts are required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy instead of rent at this price The project was to install over 1400 patio pavers with many of them along a rounded border. This meant a lot of cutting of pavers. Our pavers were 2 1/2 inches thick and 11 1/2 inches long. The saw had no problems cutting through them as long as you kept the water flowing to the blade. I did replace the blade with a "Segmented Daimond Blade" instead of using the factory blade. The 2 HP motor was more than adequate, the set up was about 1/2 hour (2 cups of coffee in the garage in the morning), and the mobility of the saw made for a smooth project completion. My wife cut a few pavers, and was impressed with the ease of use. Buying instead of renting allowed for us to slow down and make all the cuts that we needed, without hurying to get the saw back in time. We will use it on smaller "tile" type projects in the future. I am very pleased with this purchase.
