Will this tile cutter cut small cuts such as a 90 degree cut around doorways?

Small cuts such as cutting notches for tight corners or doorways, or would that require an electric tile cutter? If not, is there something similar to hand pliers that is made for cutting/notching tile?
Asked by: Gary
This is a "speed cutter", it cuts quickly straight lines across the tile: from one border to the next one. You need an electric tile saw cutter in order to cut small trims of tile or odd cuts like the ones you have to do around doorways...

Does it work well for ripping small amounts from the edges.

I have 12x24 tiles that need Less than 1 " taken off the long axis.
Asked by: RW
For cuts smaller than 1/2 inch, you will need to use an electric tile cutter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fair to good for the price Worked great doing 24 in diagonal cuts on 18 in tiles. After 10-15 cuts tho, the cutting wheel was worn out, and the base flex increased, so I had to clamp all 4 corners to a bench, and replace the cutter. Now I get about 4 of 5 diagonal cuts to work. Could not find the correct replacement cutter anywhere including QEP, had to modify a different cutter to work. stop is too short, should be at least 12 in if this is to be used with 24 in tiles. Worked uniformly excellent for rip cuts. Replacement cutters expensive at $18-20. Performed fair under challenging conditions .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 24" Tile Cutter I needed something to cut 24" tiles. Local rental place only had 18" cutters which was expensive to rent and wet saws (too messy). For less then $100 I figured it was worth a chance since the rental for the 18" was $24 a day. I was very surprised about how well the cutter was built and sturdy. It cut tiles perfectly. Sure I broke some, but that was my fault and not the cutters. Over all I think this will last me for a long time. As you can see in the picture, a perfect cut on a 24" tile with one pass. I have cut maybe 40 tiles in my life and this is very easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine I bought this for a bathroom project after not being able to find the one I had from years ago. This machine is unbelievable. Quick and easy. I've made miter cuts on bullnose edging and cut 3/4" slices off of ceramic wall tile. Straight and minimal chipping. I did break the first wall tile I cut but only because I used the same pressure on the score that I used on the heavier floor tile cuts. I'm just amazed at how easy this machine cuts. I would definitely recommend this to any DIY'er.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice cutter This is a nice tile cutter, however the only one I've used. I had some trouble with the 12x24" tiles, perhaps due to lack of experience. When I figured it out, things were better. I used it on 5/16" and 3/8" ceramic and porcelain tile. I was able to cut 1" strips the whole length of the 16" tile and some ~2" strips the at 24" inches long on the larger tile. The unit is well built and cuts well. The cutter wheel still worked like new after scoring all the tiles installed in a small bathroom; maybe 150 tiles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality Tile Cutter I just remodeled my bathroom and I did the tiling myself. This tile cutter is so nice. I started with a different tile cutter before switching to this one. This tile cutter makes the edges cut so much cleaner plus this is 24 inches rather than just 14 inch. The score slide is smooth. I also did not have any problems with the tile not breaking along the score mark (unlike the other cutter I used which I often had that problem) I’m not sure what they’ve done different. Maybe they’ve just made the cutter more ridged or maybe it’s how the structure pushes on the tile to get it to break along the score line. Either way I love it. I have allowed my Brother-n-law to borrow it. He’s a contractor and does bathroom remodels often. He really likes it as well and says it is a professional quality product. I have included several pictures. I recommend this product.
