I don't recommend this for the job. I would think you need 2 of the dual suction cups tool instead of single cup to be on the safe side.

No. The manufacturer claims that one cup can hold up a vacuum up to 12lbs. I have never tried picking up something weighting 50 lbs.

No way and would not risk dropping glass from loss of suction. I think special glazer suction cups are available.

I would not recommend it, i have had several occasions where it would accidentally slip off of a 5 lb. tile, i think they make special air pump handles for glass, but i don't think HD carries them. Best of Luck

The ceiling fan is manufactured by Lytex Industries. It has an embedded lense at the base which is somewhat curved but NOT flat. I have replaced a light bulb in another fan in the house but this one has been quite problematic.

Very good question Paul. If it's glass and it's small, probably, but being curved, I am not sure. The rubber material is slightly curved on the tool, but really the only way to know is to test it directly on the lens. Whatever it is, the surface has to be smooth... textured surface will not work.

It will only be effective on a flat surface. Anything curved and you will get a weaker suction (if you even get one). The force vectors need to be perpendicular to the cup.

Paul, the suction only works on a flat surface. Kind of like a big version of those little suction cups for devices on your windshield or bathroom mirrors - so if there is any curvature, it won't create a bond.

I 'm not sure since you mentioned that the lens is somewhat curved. I would try it. You will know as soon as you close the suction cup whether or not it will hold the lens tight.

We would not recommend the suction cup as an appropriate tool to remove the lens from your ceiling fan. We do not have a tool that would be able to do this. We would recommend that you speak to the staff at your local Home Depot store who may be able to suggest an alternative tool.

Yes, I bought two of these for that exact purpose. At first I thought they were a little over-sized for the job, but after I pulled out the glass I was thankful for the extra heft of the suction cup, which definitely made it easier to handle the glass with accuracy. I think smaller suction cups could be more dangerous. In short, buy these for easier iMac repair.

Yes. That's exactly what I used it for. I was worried that it might break the screen if I only used one suction cup. Not so. I only used one suction cup. I affixed it toward the top of the screen and the screen came right off.

We had a whole greenhouse worth of unframed glass to remove, some tempered and some not. The job would have been impossible and dangerous without them.

I originally bought these over a year ago for handling windshields. They worked great, even on the curved surface, and I was able to remove and accurately install several windshields, with a helper of course. Later, like a lot of people, I found that they work great for removing iMac screens! I've used them to help move a giant 65 inch plasma TV, and remove a large bathroom mirror. I expected it to slide on the heavy mirror, but it did not. I make sure that the cups and surface are clean, and never have a problem with them pulling off. We left them on a windshield for a couple hours and they were still tight, although I expect they would eventually bleed down. One feature that I really like is that the "on" function is done by putting the handle together, which means you can not accidentally disengage it while you are gripping the handle.

Excellent for laying down large and small tile helps keeps a lot of glue of the fingers. I've used it for removing old tile that are loos and you cant get under them.
I recommend having one of these as a part of your floor tile kit.

We could not get the emergency window back in place on a Gulfstream 650. This allowed us to pull from the outside. I am 260 pounds and as hard as I could pull on it it never broke loose.

This works well for large flat tile but if your tile is not flat but textured it will not seal to pick up. BTW,I used it to pull a dent out of my truck too !

This product did not work. I was installing 12x24 tiles that had a very slight texture and a mat finish. It kept popping off and I didn't fee that I could trust it to not drop the tile as I was holding it. I returned it.
