Qep backerboard scoring knife. model 10015 sku 290432

I would like to purchase this item but could not find it in Portchester store. I asked several workers and checked the different aisles they directed me to. Please direct me where in the store I could find it. Thank you

I am surprised they could not locate it. In the Fort Worth Store, it was on the same isle as the Backer Board to the left near the end with the special tools. good luck.

would this work to cut vinyl siding?

We have added porches on and need to put flashing under and new j-channel trim on the siding next to the roof. Supposedly the siding can be cut with a utility knife but it is not going well. Wondering if something like this would work better...
Asked by: mossyproblems
This is tool really only works for what it states on its product description; cement and gypsum backerboard. In fact, it actually doesn't cut it, just snaps it. Your best bet would be to use another sharper and better utility knife to get the job done effectively. Joseph

Customer Reviews

Cement and Backerboard Scoring Knife with 3 Carbide Tip Design is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works good on Handiboard This knife made cutting of Handiboard fairly easy. You must break this board by pulling up which is a bit hard to do. The process I used was to score the top (marked with lines, etc.) first with the knife, then turn the board over and score the back as well. Then you can push down and break the board at the score line. Be sure to score both sides several times. To make small cutouts, etc., I used my Skil power jig saw with a concrete blade. This works good as well. BE SURE TO WEAR A DUST MASK WHILE USING A POWER TOOL WITH THE HANDIBOARD. It can be cut with a power rotary saw and concrete blade, but again the dust mask is necessary!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was amazed how well this tool actually worked. I was able to make many inticate cuts with it This simple tool met every challenege I needed. I had to cut several boards and it never failed. The most amazing part was when I needed to make intecate cuts or hole cutouts. It was fairly straight forward. Well worth the investment if you have to make several cuts on backerboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Tool for Cement Board This is the only tool I have found to cut regular cement board. I would score the board 2 or 3 times on one side and it would easily break. Then I would cut the fiber mesh on the inside of the break with my knife. I typically prefer to use Hardy board for my tile jobs, but this tool makes cutting regular cement board so easy I have switched.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does make the job easier. This backer board scoring tool makes the job of cutting tile backer board easier. It scores a thicker more pronounced line in the board facilitating the cutting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, easy to use We used this to cut Hardybacker board before re-tiling a shower. I wish the tool would have been sharper. Cutting smaller pieces took repeated and repeated runs down the score lines before we could finally break off small pieces without breakage or crumbling. But, we didn't have a power tool that could do this for us, nor did we want to incur the expense of tool purchase or rental.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product did what I needed it to do. I use my scoring knife for more than backboard scoring. It works very well on different kinds of wall panels. I keep it handy for many other things that need to be heavily scored & broken.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very helpful tool when working with cement boards. Difficult to find this tool, they keep them near the tile area rather then with tools. The tool itself works very well on cement board. Do wish it the handle was made of metal rather then plastic.
