I have a 24x12 finished space in my basement and I needed to install a new pad under 8-year-old carpeting after a sump pump failure. Contrary to other remarks, this is a pretty durable tool. I have no comparison to other, more expensive tools, but this kicker got the job done. I do agree with others that the bumper on this device can do a number on knees and the portion of your thigh just above the knee. More expensive devices feature better padding and spring loading. This would not be an issue for me if I was working with a smaller space, but 24x12 really pushed my pain tolerance limits. Switching knees got me through the project though.

Glad I'm not a carpet layer by trade. Although this worked just as I needed, knees aren't made for this torture.

This will save time to do it yourself so you don't have to pay a professional

Basically fell apart while using. I understand it was inexpensive but this is ridiculous. I expect more from a national company HD than this .

Tool has a decent quality but the teeth are not adjustable nor deep enough for thick carpets. If your carpet is lush and thick this tool will not be inadequate, spend the extra money for the more expensive model.
