Product Overview

The QEP Tile Leveling Clips (96-Pack) are part A of a two-part installation system engineered to level, align, space, and hold large body porcelain tile, marble and stone during installation. This part of the system works by automatically aligning and spacing tiles. The wedge part B of the system (sold separately) works by maintaining tiles at an even height until the mortar sets, thereby ensuring the resulting surface is level and free of lippage. The system is used by professionals to save time while providing level and consistently spaced results.

  • First part of a 2-part system to level, align, space, and hold porcelain tile, marble and stone during installation
  • Plastic
  • Use with Part B of 2-part system (not included)
  • Use on tiles up to 1/2 in. thick
  • Produces 1/16 in. grout joint, up to 1/4 in. when combined with traditional tile spacers
  • Anchor design keeps tile level throughout installation
  • Addresses variations in thickness
  • Small holes allow mortar to disperse evenly to eliminate potential voids
  • Member tested and recommended by the handyman club of America

Can this prouduct be used with large format ceramic tiles?

In the product description it does not list ceramic as one of the tiles that this product will work with.
Asked by: Zak
This spacers are great but you should use with half inch notches for the thin set,my opinion as a tile installer ,using half inch it helps for your un leveled floors anyways ,

They are designed to work with even and uneven thinkness of material. For this reason, they are curved at the bottom. This means that you need at least a 3/8 X 1/4 X 1/4 notched trowel, but I recommend using 1/2 X 1/2 X 1/2. 2. If finishing for the night and you still have more to do, stick the clips in as you normally would on the unfinished runs and then place another non mortared run of tiles and wedge them in. Because the bottom is curved, if you don't do this, the clips will tip up on the unfinished side and be hardened in place. This will keep the bottom oriented equally during the night and when you're ready to resume tiling, you just pull the wedges out.

I used 2 on the short sides and 4 on the long sides (so a total of 12 per tile) and they definately helped keep all the tiles level with each other. As an added bonus, I found that if I push the tiles all the way down, the bottom part of these things keeps all tiles the same distance above the floor (like a spacer).

Along with the sister wedges, this tile leveling system is the least expensive and most effective system for Pro's and DIYers alike. Most other systems require a substantial investment in tools and clips. We've used many other systems but keep returning to LASH as our go to tile leveling system.

I'm a DIYer and used these on my second tile floor install that was an entryway that I wanted nice and even. I thought the product was great. I almost didn't use them after reading the reviews on here but I'm glad I went ahead with them. I was originally concerned that the force of putting the wedge in would pop the adjacent, already placed 12x24 tile up off its morter bed but the clips seemed to only suck the new tile down into its prepared bed, however I made sure to put pressure on the newly placed tile so that the clip wasn't putting too much upward pressure on the previously placed tile as the wedge was installed. I just used my man hands to insert the wedges since the tool wasn't available at my HD. One bag of them wasn't bad. I suppose if I had a few hundred of them I would've wanted a little help. I made sure to backbutter the tiles well to make sure there was a good bond. I used almost the entire 96 pack and after 24 hours I removed the clips by kicking with a shoe as described and never once had a clip break off high like some have suggested. I plan to use the LASH system when I install my other bathroom floor tile. The only problem that I ran into is that I did not finish the floor in one day and didn't do a good enough job cleaning out a notch for the clip to slide under the set tile so I had to place the first row the old fashioned way and continued on with the LASH system. That was my totally my fault. The price wasn't bad for the one bag I used. I can see a pro not needing these but they were a great tool for a newby like me!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but... These clips certainly helped me install large format tile shower walls flat and even. I used a 1/2" x 1/2" trowel and raked mortar on both the tile and wall. These clips will hold the tile off the wall about 3/8" at first, and then about 3/16" when you compress it with the wedge. So make sure you use enough mortar. My issue is that because it spaces so much when you set the tile, you don't really feel the thinset making complete contact. I did my bottom row of tile last and didn't use the clips. It was nice to have the feeling of pressing the thinset in to place. Next time I will buy the more expensive kind with the flat backs. Not sure why these need to have rounded backs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Floor Without Them They worked great even on my completely unlevel floor. I could see how using the tool would be easier, but I just used the rubber handle of some pliers to squeeze them. You absolutely have to use extra thin set and a 1/2" trowel as the tiles are somewhat lifted off of your surface. Personally will never do another floor without them. An important tip that I found was to break off the bottom of some and put them under the perimeter tiles.

If you follow the directions on the packaging and use them for what they are intended for, they work great. I was amazed by what some of the 1 star answers were. You could tell, instantly on some, that directions weren't either read or understood. Take the one that said he used a 1/4" trowel because the package said anything over 3/8" worked fine. Apparently they don't realize 3/8" is 1/8" larger than 1/4"? These are fantastic to use tiling counter tops with large granite tile. They made my very non-level tops so level you can set down a marble and it doesn't move. I've had eggs roll off of them before I tiled them with 24" granite tile using this product with the tool thatt is for them.
