The only type I would think this wouldn't work with is a mosaic, because the pieces are so small. The larger the tile, the more I'd recommend the LASH system. The floor I used this on has both marble and ceramic 12 x 12 tiles with a glass and stone mosaic between the rows. I DID NOT use the LASH on the mosaic stripes, but they saved my sanity (and my hair!) everywhere else

Answer:
These long narrow tiles really need a tile leveling system, they are very prone to lippage. However, consider another leveling system as the LASH part A Ts are very prone to breakage both in the bag and when applying pressure to level tile surfaces.

Secondly, using these clips will give you a mortar bed thickness of 3/8" Plus, so if floor height is an issue
( tile to other flooring transitions ) this system is not for you, however, if it isn't, then you will be fine.
Thirdly, you have to allow the mortar bed to set and dry completely ( 36 hrs.) before attempting to snap the vertical piece from the base, otherwise you could accidently pull the tile from the floor or worse yet, snap the tile, so be careful!
Try and avoid getting any amount of mortar on the vertical section where the horizontal clips get pushed in as it makes the snapping more difficult and easier to remove.
But then again, nothing beats a level!!

my guess is that any size tile would work.. i used it on tile that was 6" X 36" that looks like wood.. not sure how it would work on the smaller glass tiles that come in 12x12 sheets.. for subway tile you would use way too many to be cost effective.

Yes, wider spacers can be added, I'd suggest corner X spacers. But consider another tile leveling system as LASH has a high breakage and shortage rate of 10-15%.

Yes they can, as long as the tile size is no less then 12 x 24. No suitable for any tile size less then that. The weight of the tile helps keep the base of the clip in place. Also, this clip requires a mortar base of 3/8" which applies to all large tile format appications.

I do get professional looking results using a tile leveling system. However, the LASH system is no longer a good system to use. Look at the John Bridge tile forum for recommendations for tile leveling systems. LASH used to work fairly well, QEP now owns the company and the failure rate of their T sections is 10-15%. Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 101 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic product for laying a flat tile floor I used the LASH tile leveling system for a small bathroom remodel. Approx. 40 sq ft of tile, 8"x18" sized tile, 1/2" thick travertine on a running bond pattern. I had issues with the floor being unlevel, and was very concerned about lippage on this job (showcase type install, wanted awesomeness on the first try). The product is very easy to use, esp. when combined with the LASH tightening plyers (not sure of the technical name) - I bought that tool online at a retailer who was PRIMED to go. I used 2 bags of the clips and 2 bags of the wedges on the floor due to the pattern I selected and the size of my tile. I used a 1/2"x1/2" square notched trowel to lay an appropriate amount of thinset on the floor. The product was very easy to use - trowel out thinset, lay down tile, insert clips at the appropriate locations, lay next tile, insert clips, and so on. I usually laid 2-3 tiles, then inserted wedges and tightened with the plyers. This continued until the job was done. The clips left about 1/8 inch gap between tiles, but to be honest, I didn't have perfectly consistent grout lines when I was done - anywhere from 1/8 to 3/16. I could have done better here. Would I recommend this product? Heck yes, especially for a newby like me. The larger tiles were hard to level out, and I can tell you, there's only 2, maybe 3 spots on the floor that didn't align perfectly with zero lippage. My wife will tell you that if I hadn't pointed the spots out, she probably wouldn't have noticed. I had zero issues with quality control - no broken clips in the bag, and no premature breakages when using the plyers to tighten the wedges. Great product, highly recommended! July 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tile leveling system As a professional flooring installer these leveling clips are a must!! I've used too many different styles over the years that slow you way down or dont work well, or way to expensive. These I've found easy to use, do take sometime, but really save time when it comes to not having to fight uneven substrate. With the trends going to wood plank look tiles that are often 3-4ft long I dont hesitate to use these. Ive been using these for years and so happy that they are finally in the market enough to have the price way down to what it is now. Used to be hard to find and hard to justify to clients on the bill. March 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So easy to use! So easy to use and my first job came out great! I like that part of the system is reuseable. April 27, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good, but... These clips certainly helped me install large format tile shower walls flat and even. I used a 1/2" x 1/2" trowel and raked mortar on both the tile and wall. These clips will hold the tile off the wall about 3/8" at first, and then about 3/16" when you compress it with the wedge. So make sure you use enough mortar. My issue is that because it spaces so much when you set the tile, you don't really feel the thinset making complete contact. I did my bottom row of tile last and didn't use the clips. It was nice to have the feeling of pressing the thinset in to place. Next time I will buy the more expensive kind with the flat backs. Not sure why these need to have rounded backs. February 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but could use improvement. I would recommend this product for leveling the long larger tiles like the wood look tiles currently in style. It does a good job of leveling the tops of your tile. As others have said the key is to use a large trowl with 1/2 notches. The largest issue I had with the product is if you are doing a large tile job and have to stop overnight you can't put the tabs under the last tile you lay. It will hold the tile abnormally high and you will not be be able to get the next tile flat. If you are laying all your tile in one day it is not an issue at all. Seems if the tabs were flat on the bottom instead of the curve it would actually aid in installation where it was not holding the tile high until you put in the wedge. June 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A good product that needs some additional instruction The product will level adjacent tiles, so it works as advertised. However, there are a few you should take into consideration: 1) The wedges are small, which mean those with larger fingers may have difficulty inserting the wedges 2) Go online and get the instruction page and watch the video on YouTube. There are a few caveats to the system that go beyond what you see here. 3) While the system does take time away from leveling corners, it adds time to the total job. 4) It is not a perfect system - don't count of this as a guarantee that all tiles will be level. This is certainly true of the the wood-grain tiles that are long and skinny - and not always completely flat. This is a decent product, but it's far from the ones that professionals use. It will work if you do a little homework on how to use the product, and take your time. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Such a time saver Used along with the wedges it made leveling our kitchen floor a breeze. some were a little difficult to remove once everything was set but other than that they worked great. The one issue i had was with the store not the product, they had plenty of spacers in all sizes but no wedges to go with them. As a first time user I needed both for my project, i would think that the store would have enough on hand of both items. July 1, 2016
