Thank you Adrian for your inquiry.
The wax ring will last indefinitely as long as the toilet and piping does not move.
The ring only needs to be replaced if the seal is broken (I.E. you pull the toilet up off of the floor). However, if there is movement in the toilet by not securing the flange properly, the wax ring can fail.

Any movement in the toilet due to an insecure flange, may cause failure in the ring. Make sure that the toilet is securely fastened to the flange, ring and floor and this problem should not occur.

Answer:
Bill,
The Toilet Bowl Wax Ring is not 100% bees wax, it is of slack wax (which is of petroleum base). I hope this helps, should you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact our QEP Customer Service at (866) 435-8665. Thank you for choosing QEP!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My preferred wax ring. I rehab houses and I've installed a lot of toilets. When the toilet flange is close the the height of the finished floor I'll use one of these rings. If the flange is too low I'll add a second wax ring, without the rubber funnel, on top of this one. Once the toilet is pressed flush with the floor they form a perfect water-tight seal. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wax ring for toilet. Purchased this as an extra in case it was needed while installing a toilet. It is not the best quality, nor the fattest of wax rings. I ended up using only the ring that came packed with the toilet because it appeared to be a better quality than this one and was fatter. April 26, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Messy Installed on hot day. Messy to work with. Non wax ring would have been easier. September 17, 2013
