This is a large bulky tool ,so that makes taking it to the work area a bit of a hassle! That said the place that you want it is right there next to where you are working! Once you have it properly adjusted it works slick! It cuts shingles like a paper cutter cutter cuts paper! So I fully recommend reading the instructions and making certain that you have your shingle shark correctly adjusted as you will hate this tool if it is not correctly adjusted and it won't be the tools fault. IT will be yours! I bought this tool to do one 36 square job! and I feel it was a great investment on my part!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from qualcraft shingle shark It works great when properly adjusted. Ive seen some reviews where the blade is said to wear out quickly. I myself got the item and tried it right out of the box and soon realized the blade was too tight towards the tip. I decieded to look at the directions and it says, the cutting blade should barely touch the base. It really doesnt have a sharp blade, its more like a dull paper cutter, but works fantastic. The adjustment made a huge difference in cutting straight and the effort to make those cuts. It makes cutting angles for valleys, starter shingles, and diagonal starter (books) sets straight and quick. If you don't want to read instructions and use right out of the box you will not get the full potential of this tool. It will wear out quickly because its metal on metal and will not cut straight. It doesnt take alot of time to adjust but you will need two adjustable wrenches to move the jamb nut on the spring and they give you an allen wrench with the tool for the other set screws. Just some other advice I also needed to loosen the jam nut and other allen set screws all at once. Then gave the handle afew ups and downs to set the placement on the rear of the blade before tightening the allen bolts and resetting the jam bolt. I found it makes shingling a better experience and produces nice straight cuts. I cant say it lasts forever because I've only used it on a few projects, but so far its been a time saver.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from shingle shark the tool works fine although there are a few things that could easily be improved on , such as the locking pin which will jam the shingle, Also needs a larger tray to cut angles on steep pitch roofs.
