Hi missy,
I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site.
There are 4 eye-bolts and 4 square nuts that fit the bolts. Place the square nuts into the slot at the top of the stand, one nut for each bolt.

All 4 bolts will work together to support the tree.

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage Tree Base - flimsy and cracks easily We opted for this plastic base bc it was cheaper and we didn't really know how cheap until we got it home. OMG - cheap grabage product. Our tree is 7-8 feet. The base first cracked when we set the tree in it. The nuts on the end of the bolts fall off a lot while trying to adjust the tree. We finally got the tree in the right upright stance in our house and watered it. We decorated the tree and then when we finally moved the tree back a few ft against the wall the carpet was soaked. Turns out the base had cracked through and all the water leaked out. Now we have to go back to home depot to get the metal base, somehow swap out the broken plastic garbage base for the metal one all the while keeping the tree in the upright position without losing any ornaments. Do not buy this base, it's garbage! December 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked Great! We had a tree that was about 7 feet tall and this stand worked great! Very easy to use and felt sturdy without any additional wires. We had our tree up for about a month with no issues - the tree never looked rocky and we never had to adjust the stand. It held enough water to leave it for a couple days when we went away for the weekend, too. January 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kind of flimsy It does the job, but barely. It is pretty flimsy. But for the price, it's not too bad. December 23, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst stand ever Would not hold up my 7' tree screws are to short to put pressure on trunk to hold it upright do not buy !!!! December 10, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tree has fallen down 4 times now... Absolutely terrible quality. Received and set up, fell down within the hour due to the instability of the plastic stand. I thought it might have been my fault so I've tried it twice more and both times it fell down again. December 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I was looking for. This product is lightweight but strong. Design is good. It is stable and unlikely to tip. It has opening large enough for a tall tree. May 12, 2013
