Customer Questions & Answers

is it possible to add a wall switch to control the fan?

If so, is it a regular on off switch or a hi low off switch? And if possible to control a multi function switch is there a wiring diagram available? Thank you.
Asked by: Rick
The kick-space heater fan switches on when it detects hot water flowing through. The switch on the front of the heater selects the fan speed, fast, slow or off. The hot water flow is controlled by the room thermostat, which switches the circulater pump on the water boiler furnace on/off. So you shouldn't need a separate wall switch to control the kick-space heater. You could change the wiring in the kick-box, but this would cancel the certification, so if your house were to catch fire you could have a problem with your insurance.

Can this unit be mounted in the floor facing up?

Can this unit be mounted in the floor facing up?
Asked by: Dan
I would assume since this is hydronic that you could mount it facing up. The water will still be forced through it and the fan will still kick on and blow the air. I believe I've seen it done this way when there was a lack of space.

Do they make a unit that uses electric heat as the source. My house uses steam heat

Asked by: john
No I am sorry we don;t. We are in the hydronics business so all the products we make are for use with hot water heating systems. I believe that Broan and Nutone make a totally electric kick space heater. Also just so you know it is possible in many steam systems to run a hot water zone off a steam boiler. Often additions will be added to older homes with steam and the plumber will plumb a zone of hot water baseboard off a steam boiler, or an indirect fired hot water heater. They do this by piping the feed and return below the water line of the steam boiler. I am not suggesting you should do this just to run a kick space heater. I just thought if might be helpful for you to know this. Steam is often called a forgotten art because there is so little of it out there. People, including trades people don;t often realize there are options if you have the knowledge.

It warms the entire kitchen and keeps the floor tile at the sink nice and warm. Having two fan settings is very nice depending on how cold it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from would be a 4 but... For some reason they decided to make the pipe on the bottom shorter, this makes it more difficult to solder. Now if the pipe on top was the shorter one...you'd really be on to something!
