Needed to soundproof (or help deaden) a mechanical room from adjacent bar/theater room, without having 10" walls or breaking the bank. Make sure your utility knife is sharp, and it's not too bad to cut, and be aware that it must be covered (i.e. drywall) to meet code, much like kraft facing or tar paper. There are better sound proofing systems out there for sure, but for the money, you can't go wrong with this product.

There's a big difference between "sound-proofing" and "Acoustic treatment". This product is best installed under the sheetrock. (I recommend installing it on BOTH sides of a wall if possible. The material is basically particle board with a thick coating that helps its density.) In my case, I saw about a 4db loss after installing it on one side. If one were to install on both sides and insert standard insulation as well, you'd be in pretty good shape.

When I finished out my basement with an office and home theater, noise was a concern. I put this product up under the sheetrock on all walls of the theater and on the ceiling in all of the basement. It was cheap and really helps with the noise. I can't hear the kids playing upstairs when I am working and the movies can't be heard in other rooms or upstairs. It is hard to cut though and I had some difficulty with extended door jams due to the extra wall thickness. I would use this product again where noise is a concern but need to find a better way to cut than with a utility knife.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by maxwell1869 it works, BUT!!!!!
it works(it keeps the sound in my room thats for sure) i can no longer hear soft sound. but I got this for my bedroom since i work nights and i have roommates. however i can still hear people if they kinda get loud, and if we have kids over i can hear them screaming. i don't really hear anything coming from the walls its mostly the door. i replace my hollow core door with a solid core but i still have little gaps between the door and jam. with that being said i am VERY pleased with quiet brace, i would definitively buy this again. I had add insulation, quietbrace and drywall. my room stays very warm during the winter, i have notice my heater comes on WAY less now. and my room stays warm without the heat coming on ever 20 mins. Cant wait to see how it is in the summer! My roommate wants to redo her room with it. also word of advice!! check around at local retailers home depot price matches i got this product for $7.00 vs the home depot price of $10.98.
I have a 12 x 13 bed room I completely tore down the walls and ceiling. i installed insulation then on top of the insulation i installed the quiet brace sheating then on top of that i installed 1/2 drywall. kinda wanted the quiet rock dry wall but it was 14.98 a sheet..I did the same thing for my ceiling as i did the walls. on my days and weekends off I watch tv and listen to music used to my roommates would complain my tv/stero was to loud now they cant tell how loud it is until they open the door. I love it . I just wished i could make my door sound proof so the sound wouldnt escape.

When I built our laundry room I wanted it to be soundproof as much as I can. I use insulation on the interior wall on put this Quiet Brace up on the inside wall. Then I took some drywall putty and put a skim coat on it, sanded it, then painted it. Looks just like it would with dry wall/sheet rock.
So now when the door is shut, we can hardly here the washer! Works awsome
The only down fall is that, I make muiltiable trips to the laundry room because I can't tell when the washer is done, LOL.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CWPGuy Great for soundproofing
We used this product in our private indoor gun range. It works great, keeps the sound in and doesn't disturb our neighbors. Easy to install and work with but does tend to absorb a little moisture.

I used this instead of the pink panels , it is 1/2 the price and just as easy to work with, I will continue using it in the future.

HIghly recommend 1 layer of 1/2 wallboard , 1 layer soundboard , 1 layer 5/8 wall board ... for max sound proofing.... 2x4 backing in corners will need to be doubled up
