Can I use this on my front porch, and paint it when complete?

Asked by: homedepotjunkie
That,s exactly what I did and it turned out very nice. On the porch it may get slippery in the rain and snow so be careful.

would this work on a concrete pea gravel surface to make it smoother

Asked by: dundee
No - if a concrete surface is rough due to protruding pea gravel, QUIKRETE® Concrete Resurfacer is not an appropriate product choice to smooth it – it is designed to provide a new surface over worn or scaling concrete. QUIKRETE® Sand Topping Mix No. 1103 blended with QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier No. 8610 replacing a portion of the water content, for an application <1 inch thick, would be appropriate. If a thicker topping between 1 – 2 inches thick is desired, Sand Topping Mix may be applied after a painted on coat of QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive.

I can see where others become frustrated with this product but if you mix with water per instructions (perhaps a little more water) you can spread a little bit at a time until you get the surface you want. Tip: Having done a project myself, I can tell you it will go a little easier if you have a helper. Tip: Keep a MIST over your new surface as you spread to keep it malleable. Tip: If you dont pour the entire bucket out at once, add a little water to the bucket from time to time and run your paddle bit through it again to keep it from hardening in the bucket. Tip: once you spread this stuff out and you get ready to broom (concrete broom works best), spray the broom bristles with a hose and then shake it to leave just a little bit of water in the bristles. What this will do is make a very nice broom finish and the little bit of water will help soften and knock down any "boogers" that result from the resurfacer setting a little faster that desired. Tip: Just like any other concrete product, the colder the weather, the better. If you work during summer months, its best to do this as early in the morning as possible or late evening to avoid direct sun light. Its all about timing. This makes an excellent product if you do it right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money saver I've read bad reviews of this product and the only thing certain is those bad reviews do not know how to install it correctly. I've been using this product for years. I also give a 2 year warranty for installation against cracking and chipping. I have customers from 6 years ago who to this day still have my repair holding. If you follow this process you will succeed. Acid wash then let dry, concrete bonding adhesive and then immediately use Quikrete Resurfacer, broom finish, brick rub after 24-48 hours. Perfect job every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I found it to be a awesome product. Needing to resurface a pool deck where the surface had aged and became very rough on the feet. Did a 12x12 area 6 years ago, pressure washed added border andjust applied it with a squeegee and broom finished. Have waited six years to see how it held up. Looks like the day of the I did it. Now we're going to do the whole 6 thousand square feet deck this year after seeing the test block has withstood the test of time wit zee h a

The plastic bag it comes in is so thin that you can't lift the bag out of the box without it tearing and if you put a shovel into the box to scoop it out you rip the bag. No matter what you do product doesn't ever mix with the water. Doesn't matter how long you use the paddle on the drill, the concrete never goes into solution properly. Returning what we didn't use and trying something else!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great and it's not hard to do Decided to resurface my folks 35 year old cracked and pitted patio. First I repaired the cracks etc with the resurfacer, as per directions waited till they were dry then poured on the resurfacer first coat using a floor squeegee to spread it. The stuff dried a bit fast because of the weather but just sprinkled some extra water on it so it would continue to spread easily and evenly. Waited a day then put 2nd coat on. I'm not a youngster, I'm a Grandma and if I can do it anyone can.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Held up great for us!!! Been researching another resurfacing project and came across this review page. I can't leave those two-star reviews to stand! I used the Quikrete Resurfacer to refinish our chunky, cracked and generally ugly driveway some years back. While a helper would have been...helpful, I actually did this by myself. Patched the cracks a couple of weeks before, then applied the Resurfacer to our two-car-wide driveway over a 25 foot length. Looked like a new driveway(almost) and held up for a few years of two-car, twice-a-day traffic. For the results we obtained and the price paid, it's a good 4.5 Star product!!! I also resurfaced our decades old pre-cast concrete steps leading to the paito...held up great for most of a decade before we moved!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pay Attention to Reviews!!! I bought everything and did everything right...wrong! I even added 50% more water than the directions indicated and it was still like applying mud to a nicely preared patio. Now i've got a mess and either need to rent a floor maintainer or floor polisher ($36) and hexpin surface prep system attachment ($54) to clean up the mess. Their Quikrete 1 Qt. Concrete Crack Seal and Quikrete 1 Qt. Concrete Patching Compound worked fairly well however stay away from their Concrete Resurfacer...or you'll be sorry!
