I used the sand to put underneath some stepping stones that I was putting in my flower garden. After digging the hole, I put about 1/2" or so of sand in before putting the stone in. This helps tremendously to keep the stones level, so they do not wobble at all.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Heather Not like any play sand I've ever seen before
My spouse filled the kids sandbox with this stuff while I was away and I was certain he must have bought the wrong thing as it doesn't look anything like typical play sand. It's gray for starters and extremely dusty. And when it gets wet it's dirty/chalky and leaves a residue on everything. It doesn't work for making sand castles and other play molds either because it just turns to mush when wet and sticks to the buckets or molds. We'll be removing this sand and buying something else. Don't waste your money on this product for a sand box.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SK Grey sand with a chalky film.
I plan to return the unopened bags, but am so displeased I will throw the bags we dumped into our
sandbox for our grandkids into our compost bin. The bag did say Play Sand that was screened, washed and dried. The printing on the bag was so poor I could not read much of the other material printed. We paid what we thought was an excellent price at Home Depot, but unfortunately was a waste of time and money.
The sand does not resemble the sand on our Oregon beaches. It is dirty, grey and left a chalky film. Wetting it down would keep the dust down, but we are still left with dirty sand that resembles more small pebbles than sand. I generally do not write reviews, but this product has earned this poor rating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thom Sand was free of any rocks or other foreign material
Used to fill ballast for umbrella stand support. However, this sand was clean and free of rocks, debris and dust. I wound have used it for a sandbox if that had been the purpose. Be advised that the blue end at the top of the bag seems to be for pouring. This end is not sealed and sand will leak if the bag is not placed properly.

It is not any kind of sand that I would consider for kids to play in, it is a mixture of all grades from dirt to small gravel. A lot of large stuff, nothing like you would find at the beach,it is the kind you get at the river from the bottom. I would say it is just best used for construction, not for play or terrariums.
