Does not filter like it should. I have to change out my sand at this point to have a clean and clear pool. I have NEVER had this problem before.

Judging from reviews Im guessing this is a batch by batch product. I took a chance on it figuring that people did not check their laterals or backwash the sand before use. I was wrong... I did everything by the book with this sand and it ended up in my pool AND made a huge mess. First some sand made it in the pool and I accepted that some was bound to. Then several pounds made it in the pool so i vacuumed to waste and gave it another day. More sand PLUS murky water. Shut my pump down floc the pool, vacuumed to waste and changed the sand to aquaquartz (10.00 per 50lb bag at leslie pool) all perfect now no problems. I have a hayward S210T filter if that helps anyone. SO if you have this filter save yourself 20 bucks and the labor of removing 200lbs of sand again and find another option.

Even if it's a seasonal item it should be available to all customers just like mulches for gardening just like shovels are for snow

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marketmutt Easy and inexpensive fix for clear water
Bought this for a Hayward S244T sand filter. Took six of these bags...(the pool guys wanted $300.00 just to replace the sand, jeez!). Absolutely the best price and it's very easy to replace the sand in the filter.
Note; Before I replaced the sand the filter had been shooting sand into the pool and the water was very cloudy. FIRST, I replaced the center pipe and bottom flanges because I found a small crack in the pipe, (also easy and relatively cheap to do), which was the cause of the sand blow-in, cloudy problem. You could barely see the crack, but under pressure apparently it opened enough to fail. Problem solved and the water was crystal clear all season.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Killer My experience and summary of reviews
I have a Heyward sand filter model S244T installed with an in ground pool. After reading many customer reviews, it appears some filters do not tolerate the use of this sand while others have no problem with it. I elected to use it to replace the sand in my filter which had not been changed in more than 10 years. As a civil engineer, I suspect the screen opening size in the filter laterals is the cause of the sand bleed out on some filter systems. The lateral screens in the bottom of the sand filter have uniform openings like the screens in a ground water well. The Heyward screens accept this sand well, so for my application it was the least expensive alternative. When installed correctly, back flushed and rinsed, it had no sand blow by issues what so ever. I would caution everyone to remove and inspect their laterals before installing the sand. One of my laterals was broken in the screening area, which would have certainly caused sand blown through if it had not been replaced. The grain sizes of this sand met the recommended specification by Heyward for this filter. Carefully inspect the condition of laterals during sand replacement and follow the manufacturer's recommendation for replacement sand gradiation.

Used this sand in my Pentair Triton II filter. Shortly thereafter, barracuda (creepy crawly) would only run for around 20 minutes before pressure on system would double and barracuda became motionless. The only cure was a backwash.
Determined specs for the sand are both under and over what Pentair recommends. No fault of HD, all of my local pool stores sell the same brand. Finally found HTH Aqua Quartz at the smaller hardware store. It definitely has more quartz and thus far has worked like a charm.
This brand may work fine for those not using suction based floor sweepers but I'd stay away if you are.
