I have a building (4500 sq. ft.) made of very porous yellow ACME BRICKs. Can this be applied directly to the bricks or do I need a bonding agent. Also there seems to be a real discrepancy on coverage area; how much would I need for such a job Lastly; If this is cement gray what colors can be used if any. Thank You
Asked by: JO
As long as the brick substrate is clean, sound, uncoated/unsealed, and free of dust, loose debris, and any other potential bond breakers, QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco may be utilized. QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco is a gray based product. QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement (No.1230-50 – white; No. 1231-50 – gray) is more commonly utilized for your application as long as the same conditions are met. QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement should be blended with QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier (No. 8610) replacing a portion of the mixing water content per instructions. Be sure to review packaging / data sheet for complete application instructions for rehabilitating and renovating walls with the QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement. A 50 lb bag of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement will cover approximately 50 square feet at 1/8 inch thickness. A 4500 square feet area at 1/8 inch thickness would require 90 bags (of 50 lb each) of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement. Yields will vary depending on waste, water content, unevenness of the substrate, etc. For coloring of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement, the QUIKRETE® Stucco & Mortar Color (No. 1319) can be utilized. Please note that some of the colors are designed specifically for a white based product and some of the colors are designed for a gray based product. We recommend mixing test batches while paying close attention to the water content and the amount of QUIKRETE® Stucco & Mortar Color used and waiting for a minimum of 24 hours to observe that the color is acceptable before moving forward with the entire project.

Can this be used on an outdoor woodfired pizza oven

Asked by: Bridge
A normal Portland cement based product should not be used if it will be exposed to high temperatures (>200 degrees Fahrenheit). If temperatures greater than 200 degrees Fahrenheit will be experienced, a refractory cement based product should be used if high temperatures are expected. In general, if you are coating the outside of the oven that will not experience high temperatures, products such as QUIKRETE® Heavy-Duty Masonry Coating (No. 1301, 1312), QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement (No. 1230-1231), or QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco (No. 1200) could be utilized. Please call the QUIKRETE® Technical Center at 1-800-282-5828 if you wish to discuss your specific application.

How many square feet will 1 80 lb bag cover

Asked by: Deb
QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco is generally used by experienced installers for construction of exterior walls with a 1-hour fire resistive wall assembly, following the requirements of ICC ESR-1240. However, it may also be applied as a traditional 2 or 3-coat stucco system, adhering to ASTM C 926. Applied at a thickness of 3/8 inch, it will cover approximately 20-24 square feet. Applied at a thickness of ½ inch, it will cover approximately 15-18 square feet. Applied at a thickness of ¾ inch, it will cover approximately 10-12 square feet. Yields will vary based upon waste, uneven subgrade, etc.
