QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco may be applied over fiber mesh lath that has been properly installed over foam. If wire mesh is not going to be utilized then QUIKRETE® Foam Coating (No. 1219-81 - gray, 1219-82 - white) is recommended for this application. If you are unable to find the QUIKRETE® Foam Coating (No. 1219-81 - gray, 1219-82 - white) you may consider QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement #1230, 1231 (white, gray) as an alternative – it can bond to many types of foam insulation panels, including most extruded polystyrene surfaces – this material is applied using a trowel. In general, when using over extruded polystyrene, QUIKWALL® SBC should be blended with QUIKRETE® Acrylic Fortifier #8610 replacing a portion of the water content; however, this is for improved bond, rather than flexibility. Note that this product includes fibers, which may visibly poke out. For either of these products, we would recommend trialing in a small inconspicuous area and let cure for several days to verify that the application has the desired effect. For coloring of these products the QUIKRETE® Stucco & Mortar Color (No. 1319) can be utilized, please note that some of the colors are designed specifically for a white based product and some of the colors are designed for a gray based product. Please contact the QUIKRETE® Technical Center at 1-800-282-5828 to discuss the specific type of foam you are using, as some are extremely smooth / slick.

I have a building (4500 sq. ft.) made of very porous yellow ACME BRICKs. Can this be applied directly to the bricks or do I need a bonding agent. Also there seems to be a real discrepancy on coverage area; how much would I need for such a job Lastly; If this is cement gray what colors can be used if any. Thank You
Asked by: JO
As long as the brick substrate is clean, sound, uncoated/unsealed, and free of dust, loose debris, and any other potential bond breakers, QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco may be utilized. QUIKRETE® One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced Stucco is a gray based product. QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement (No.1230-50 – white; No. 1231-50 – gray) is more commonly utilized for your application as long as the same conditions are met. QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement should be blended with QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier (No. 8610) replacing a portion of the mixing water content per instructions. Be sure to review packaging / data sheet for complete application instructions for rehabilitating and renovating walls with the QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement. A 50 lb bag of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement will cover approximately 50 square feet at 1/8 inch thickness. A 4500 square feet area at 1/8 inch thickness would require 90 bags (of 50 lb each) of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement. Yields will vary depending on waste, water content, unevenness of the substrate, etc. For coloring of QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement, the QUIKRETE® Stucco & Mortar Color (No. 1319) can be utilized. Please note that some of the colors are designed specifically for a white based product and some of the colors are designed for a gray based product. We recommend mixing test batches while paying close attention to the water content and the amount of QUIKRETE® Stucco & Mortar Color used and waiting for a minimum of 24 hours to observe that the color is acceptable before moving forward with the entire project.
