Customer Reviews

1 gal. Redwood Exterior Wood Stain and Sealer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! We have a 13 year old privacy fence that had never been cleaned or protected, I honestly thought it was beyond help, it was pitiful and gray. Well, I decided to power wash it, power washing made a huge difference, the gray wood was gone! It looked so good that we figured our fence had at least 10 more good years so we decided to stain it. I compared products and read reviews and blogs for a couple of days and it seemed like semi-transparent wood stain was the way to go and Ready-Seal was a go to brand, I'm SO glad I decided to go with Ready Seal Redwood. If you have an old, thirsty fence like I do and you plan on brushing it on, with a little rolling (use a lambswool roller), plan on averaging 40-45 boards per gallon (one side of the board), if you're staining front and back, you will average 22 boards front and back. I brushed it on thick and I didn't apply the second coat, it has been a couple of weeks and we've had rain and the stain is as dark as ever. I wish I could show you a photo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good stain I have to admit at first I wasn't to impress with the product. When I put the second coat and after a few days I could see the color coming thru I like and when people were going by were commenting on the stain like it. I am well pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good solution to preserve your outdoor wood. The product arrived, well packaged to prevent damage or spillage during shipment. After reading the instructions, I turned the can over, shook it then turned it upright and removed the plastic, Armlok II, protective seal. I applied the stain, using a thick nap roller, to a recently repaired section of my wooden fence. The color, Redwood No. 120, was a perfect match to my existing fence. The coverage, was as advertised, and the sealant appears to be working according the manufacturers descriptions. I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the deck stains for decreasing future work The deck had previously been stained with a product that even repelled itself. However, dog urine wore through that stain and the deck looked like it had a skin disease. Because that product couldn't just be cleaned and refinished, the entire deck needed to be stripped by sanding off that finish. We wanted to find a product that wouldn't require that kind of work in the future. Most stains on deck flooring must be refinished every few years. This product can be applied over itself, sparing us from all that sanding in the future. And the color was great, and the wood's grain showed through beautifully. The main thing in using the product is to be sure to follow the instructions regarding the prep of the deck's surfaces prior to its application and to apply two coats thinly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent experience Over the past month I have purchased over 25 gallons of Ready Seal stain from Home Depot, some of it delivered to my house some picked up at the store. The delivery was very quick both ways. I used the product to stain and seal my new wood fence. It was very easy to apply. I used a 12in roller, a small roller and bruches. I applied 2 coats per instructions. The color is redwood. It turned out very very well. I could not be happier with the product or Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good stain and sealer This Redwood exterior stain and sealer by Ready Seal seems like it will be a very good stain and sealer. I stained some test boards that are the same as the type I have on my deck and it looks great. It went on easy and the coverage was very good. It dries fast which is a big plus. The stain was packaged extremely well so it came through the shipping process great. I will be buying more of this product to finish off both decks and all the handrails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality stain The stain was easy to apply, and it was easy to clean up the drips I made. The product instructions said to completely remove old stain or paint but I did not - just sanded lightly. I decided the wood was so weathered that the product would seep in well, even with the old stain, and it did. The only problem was that the can arrived with a large dent in the bottom. I can't rate how effective it is because I only applied it last week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covers well have shaken at store use same day The stain covers well and was applied by a sprayer using a brush to aid in spreading but was not mandatory. I would suggest purchasing on the date to be used and have them shake it upside down at the store as much of the color settled to the bottom of the can and did require approximately 15 minutes to mix by hand.
