Applied one coat to a new deck. Not much color. Should I re-stain in a week and again in spring?

Asked by: Buzz
not sure what color stain you used, and not sure how old wood was when you placed stain, you should add a coast once a year and no longer then every two years,

can this product be used with a hand pump sprayers.

Asked by: roadrebel
yes, or a paint sprayer, with a pump, you might want to make sure you have a pain brush on hand to remove runs, used soapy water in pump after staining to keep nossal from clogging,

Can different colors be mixed together?

Asked by: Pappy
Since the manufacturer recommends mixing multiple cans together to get a color consistency, I don't know why you couldn't. You would have to sample the stains as you go to develope the color you want to achieve, then record the quantities of each if you want to later rematch the new color. I hope this helps.

After reading reviews, chose this stain for new pressure treated pine deck. Had teens helping stain, so I can say it definitely went on easy and streak free with no marks, using brush and roller. It looks great. I waited 6 mos before staining to assure the wood was dry. The pine is very light, so to get the color I wanted I did a 3rd coat just on the floor and top rail, tho it wasnt necessary for the stain to do its job. The exact color you get will depend on your type of wood, what you are trying to cover, and how many coats you apply. The label clearly states not to use this product on other old stain, unless you have removed that old stain. Will be buying again to stain new fence.

I purchased Redwood lumber from Home Depot (available in CA), and used Redwood Ready Seal. However, I did have a few issues. - I used a roller to apply the Ready Seal. Try and roll the whole plank in one go, otherwise, I could see lines between newer and older applications. - I have two 5 gallon containers. After about a year, one completely separated, and however much I shake or stir it, I can't get it to mix. This could have be caused by the extreme heat this summer, but no warnings exist on the container. - I'm not convinced about the longevity. I have some redwood that was treated about a year ago, and although the color is OK, it's very dull and the surface is rough. Maybe this is normal, but I had expected the wood to last better with Ready Seal applied.

I read directions I cleaned our old deck (15 yrs) with deck cleaner and then pressure washed it and let it dry thoroughly. I applied it on Monday and it is now Wednesday and the deck is still not thoroughly dry everyone keep saying dries quickly. This is not quick. I shook it and stirred as it said. I brushed some areas and rolled the others and not heavy. Granted our yard is shady but I have Stained it before and never ran into this. It probably could use it , but Hestitant to second coat it I I am not sure I will do my front porch with this I guess until this thoroughly dries out will I give them it still up or thumbs down

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We have a redwood deck that my husband built in... We have a redwood deck that my husband built in /77 and it has survived the scorching high desert Nevada sun as well as very cold snowy winters. It has been stripped and 'painted' numerous times over the years and we have tried many redwood stains, colors and manufacturers including what we thought were the best but it was always a disappointment. Most started to peel and left the deck in a mess starting 6 months down the road. This Ready Seal Redwood Exterior Wood Stain was our last hope and we had great expectations after reading all the positive reviews. The deck and seats, which is well over 1500 sq. ft. required 21/2 5 gallon cans and the efforts of our workmen, stripping sanding and staining resulted in a beautifully revived deck. The color is perfect, the wood grain shows through beautifully and we have our deck back and better than in all past efforts. Now our hope is that it will remain so for at least 2 yrs. So, I may give an update either way. Obviously, we highly recommend this product and color stain.

Was surprised HD carried it but hear they may be phasing it out. Hate to see that as it is as good as it gets. You may pay more but it is worth it. Hands down the best...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful redwood color I used it to stain the pergola that I built. I put 2 coats on the lumber. The first coat came out light yellowish red. The second coat came out brownish red. So beautiful. And I also saved time with this product cause it is 2 in 1. Stain and sealer.

The only down side is, you have to use heavy duty filter masks when you apply it because the fumes are toxic. Once dried, however, the end result it fantastic.
