Answer:
I applied it to a font porch with 3 stairs and also to a rear deck that has 12 stairs. I haven't had any issues with slipping even in the rain.

Answer:
I believe it will depend on how smooth of "finished" the wood is. I used it on a nicely finished cedar deck board, and it actually is pretty 'slick' especially initially. However, I have also used it on some rougher deck boards and it feel perfectly OK. However, using on a ramp could be a little iffy if the wood is slicker to begin with.

Answer:
I did not...I had old stain (reddish, that you put on a wooden swing set), which i stripped off and then used an orbital sander to get the remaining stain off. I then put 2 coats of the Ready Seal light oak down. it came out very well.

Answer:
It is most convenient to shake it in the 5 gallon size. However, I do think it is possible to remove the lid to stir if this is your preference.

When the product was delivered I turned pail upside down overnight. When I was ready to apply, I poured into a paint pan. It worked great, no issues.

I want to know more about this product!!

I am looking for a stain that's also a sealer (water repellent, resists mildew and has a UV protector in it). We rebuilt our deck in the Spring and used Thompson's water sealer on it. It mildewed and looked splotchy. We just used their deck cleaner to strip the clear sealer off of it. We are wanting a stain that will protect the wood and not peel but be water resistant, we also love the wood grain of the pressure treated pine. We live in Florida and have hot summers! What are the pros and cons to this product? We don't want to have to strip another deck! I've seen horror stories about decks and sealants! Does the deck show wear and tear quickly? Will it last longer than 2 or 3 years? Thanks for any tips and help!

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best deck stain I've ever used! Ready Seal is by far the easiest and most forgiving deck stain i have ever used. Waited a year for the newly built PT pine decks to dry out enough ( ground level deck took the longest ) . Chose oil based because i did not want to run the risk of pealing which can happen with latex sealers. Scrubbed the decks two weeks earlier with Wolman"s Deck Brightener, blew all debris off, and masked with paper and tape. To apply the stain, I used a garden pump sprayer, back rolling with a wool roller, and did fine work with mini rollers and foam brushes. Took a weekend and a half but was well worth it. The Light Oak color is beautiful! October 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this stuff! I've used everything on the market at one time or another, at least until I tried Ready Seal. I'll never use anything else. I first used it to seal a brand new cedar deck about a year ago. It was time to seal my home again, a 5600 sq. foot 'rustic' wrapped in cypress and this year we soft-washed the entire thing before putting on the sealer. Ready Seal is wonderful! It really brings out the grain in the cypress and is so easy to apply. It hangs to the brush and the roller like nothing I've ever used. You can spray, roll, brush, whatever, and it still looks great (Though I prefer to brush.) April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ready seal light oak We used this sealer inside of our barn to protect our rough dawn yellow pine from dirty hands. The color is just beautiful and the application was very easy. No lap marks. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Southern indiana Easy to apply. Had some overspray that temporarily discolored concrete, seems to have disappeared. Can no longer see the overspray. Definitely easiest application is to spray. Areas that are sprayed heavier will blend with areas that are lighter coated. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Makes the deck look new again Easy to use, goes on evenly, really makes the grain stand out, used more than I thought I would, needed 41/2 gal. to do a 16'x16' deck. I called Ready Seal, because the instructions called for 2 coats. Rep. said since I used a roller one coat would be enough. August 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Goof Proof. It's true. This is an exceptionally easy product to use and it looks beautiful once applied. I have a 2100 square foot cedar deck. Being large, I can't use a product which leaves splotches or uneven coverage. Ready Seal goes on smoothly with even color. July 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional Look without the Professional Skill Really enjoyed this product. I'm not a professional stainer, by any stretch of the imagination, but this product makes your stained fence look professionally finished. This is very runny so just keep that in mind when applying the product BUT it will not stain the fence unevenly. The wood absorbs the stain efficiently and it is almost impossible to create any runs with this product. I stained one side of my bare fence one day, in which runs were clearly visible on the opposite side, and the very next day I was able to still get rid of the runs with just a simple normal single coat. Great product overall, just keep in mind that the stain may get everywhere. March 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I purchased this stain for a new pressure treated pine fence that we let cure for 3 months prior to application. I chose to use a roller and brush as opposed to a garden sprayer or paint sprayer and am very happy with the results. The stain went on evenly, there are no runs even though I was not overly careful in the application and the end result is a beautiful fence - many compliments from the neighbors. The pop top spout also makes it very easy to only use the amount of stain that you need for a specific area. Overall, very satisfied with the results and ease of application. August 11, 2015
