I'm considering this product to treat cedar I'm using to build raised beds for my vegetable garden. Is this a safe product for that purpose? Are there any toxicological concerns for veggies or soil?

Answer:
I don't know about the chemicals in the stain, but since it is oil based, it killed any grass under my fence and anywhere I sprayed the stain. So . I would cover any plants or soil to prevent any contamination. The stain worked well on my flowerboxes, with good results if you protect the soil. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Depends if it is a B/B, picket, solid etc. Sq ft is in the specs. If you are doing a B/B, then you can plan on using 50-75% more to get all sides. Let the fence age at least 6 months to dry out and put it on heavy.

I would at least start with 10 gallons because my new cedar fence soaked it right up if your doing I did 120 feet and had little left over

Answer:
Multiply your fence height by your fence length and then multiply that number by two. Then look at the specifications for the stain and see what it says is the coverage area for the stain. Take the product of your height x length x 2 calculation and divide it by the coverage area for the stain. This is the number of cans of stain you will need.

Answer:
Although it is easier to apply than other stains, I would not use it on a roof as you will only get about 2-3 years out of it. This is made for for decks and fences.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 75 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional results, reasonable price. I have used many different stains and sealers on many different types of wood on many different decks and fences and I have to say this is the easiest product to work with. The product brushes and sprays very easy and there truly are no lap marks even when there are days between applications. The material is easy to clean up and the results are beautiful. I am very happy with this product. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Truly Foolproof Our deck had not been cleaned and sealed in several years, and it showed it. After power washing and allowing the surface to dry, I applied what turned out to be the first coat of Ready Seal. I had hoped to get by with a single coat, but the wood was so porous and dry, that I knew it was going to take two coats to get the coverage I wanted. Even with a day or two of rain and drying between coats, the seal covered smoothly and evenly and showed absolutely no areas of inconsistency between the two applications. Then, it rained again right after the second coat, with still no adverse effects. Now that it has had a couple of weeks to fully soak in and cure over several sunny days, I couldn't be more pleased with the product. The only two things I would note. First, if you're going to apply it with a pump sprayer, which I did, be sure to use a sprayer with sufficient pressure to actually spray the seal. It is just thick enough to require a good sprayer to actually "spray." Otherwise it just dribbles. (FYI: I started with a new Deck & Home Sprayer, and it was totally insufficient for the task. Don't be misled by the name of that sprayer.) Second, if your wood is old and weathered like mine, it will most likely finish darker than the color samples of the Natural Cedar. It is not unattractive -- just darker than if were used on newer wood. I am extremely pleased. See before and after photos attaced. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VERY EASY TO WORK WITH AND GREAT RESULTS. The only downside is having to order and wait for this product from Home Depot. We ordered and picked up at the store and it didn't take very long. This product is worth waiting for. It's easy to apply, goes on well and looks terrific! We used it to refreshen an older deck(9 years) after power washing it, and it made it look fresh and great. We are so happy with this product we will be applying it to a newer deck. I highly recommend it and wish it was in the stores!!! Happy Spring!! May 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product So Far I can't vouch for the longevity of this product, but it's fairly easy to apply. It's only been on a month or so. One thing we did was use a garden sprayer and it made it go faster than brushing. We used a brush to get on the tops of the boards; we were afraid of overspraying on the neighbor's house. We have large rock all around the base of our fence and it turned oily and brown, so covering any unwanted surface is a must. It seems quite expensive, as it'll take (2) 5 gallon jugs to do our fence, both sides. At $150 for a 5 gal jug that's spendy. However, if it lasts as long as it says it will, I could probably justify the price. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to work with. Beautiful results. This product is incredibly forgiving and easy to work with. It distributes itself evenly throughout the wood as it is brushed on. It truly penetrates into the wood which is more than can be said for the acrylic stains on the market. I won't use or recommend anything else for fences or decks. May 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Looked great for about 3 months... I followed the instructions on the can to prep and apply this product. It looked great for about 3 months. The other day I noticed the finish was peeling off. Very disappointing. November 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy to work with. I put this on in July, easy to work with. This is not a solid color, it is semi-transparent, wood grain shows through which is exactly what I wanted. It is now the end of April and water still beads up on the deck due to the sealer. I used to use Behr oil based wood stain but I find that this works better. If you don't keep a wet edge, the overlapping is very minimal and fades even more as time goes by. I'm glad I used this product. April 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Read reviews, used Natural Cedar and on an old cedar slat fence after pressure washing. Tried different roller thicknesses and the 1-1/4" was the one that worked best, runs and overlaps are invisible. It didn't cover as much area as advertised on old wood but the stain looks good and keeps hoa off my case. April 9, 2016
