Very easy to apply. I used a pump sprayer on my new redwood fence. Coat evened itself out on its own and left no streaks. Color came out very close to images and looks great. I would recommend anyone using on old wood to lighten wood first, if they want a pristine redwood look.

I have used this stain several times and my present backyard has mahogany stain and it has been over 3 years and it still looks great. You definitely need to apply 2 coats (which makes it a little pricey) but the way it looks makes it worth it. I have recommended to neighbors and family.

Easy to apply. Somewhat pricey. May not be as long lasting as other products.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Watchtower Best Stain for Decks
After using a number of other products called stains on my deck, which later had to be sanded off, I started using Ready Seal which is an oil based product and does what it is supposed to do, soak into the wood and repel water. I like this product because it is goof proof, spots with heavy stain will soak in and blend over the area.

After a ton of internet research in preparing to stain a 10 year old neglected deck, I stumbled across the Ready Seal product. It seemed to have generally good reviews, and much better reviews than many of the mainstream premium products. I decided to order two of the 5 gallon buckets and found Home Depot to be the best price from a reputable seller, and free shipping to boot. I was staining an approx 400 sq foot deck + stairs (full flight) + railing (with black aluminum balusters that did not need staining) + about seven 6x6 support posts. The deck was 10 years old, was made of treated lumber, and had never had any sealants/stains applied other than the factory CCA treatment. I used another product to clean and brighten the deck with a power washer about 2 weeks prior to applying the Ready Seal stain/sealer. The 5 gallon buckets were shipped via UPS and arrived in perfect condition and on time. When it was time to stain, we found it easy to open and pour the product into paint trays and a pump sprayer thanks to the pour spout built into the lid of the 5 gallon buckets. We applied the product in the sun for part of the day, and had no issues. We used a pump sprayer to apply the product to the horizontal surfaces like the floor and stairs, but used brushes and rollers for the railings and posts. It did not seem to matter how we applied it, as it looked the same either way. Splashes, spills and overlaps do not show, and the product does seem to live up to its "goof proof" motto. It is easy to get spills on adjacent walls, siding, etc, but will wipe off with a soapy rag if you get to it quickly. Throughout the staining process there did not seem to be any issues with walking on freshly stained areas and there were no footprints left. We applied a couple coats to the horizontal surfaces and generally one coat to the vertical surfaces as recommend by the manufacturer. We chose the redwood color and it turned out great, bringing our old weathered deck back to life (partial thanks to the pressure washing and chemical cleaning/brightening). It took a few days after the initial application for the oily residue to finally dry completely, but now our deck looks great. It does lighten up slightly in color after the first couple weeks, which the manufacturer clearly advises. Since the deck application, I built some outdoor furniture out of cedar lumber and used the leftover Ready Seal product on those items as well. It looks great and the water really beads on it. The ability to just recoat with the stain in the future (without stripping) is what really drew us to the Ready Seal product. While we hope it is a few years before we need to do that, we won't be dreading the process. At this point, we are very, very pleased with the Ready Seal product and highly recommend it for decks, fences or any outdoor woodworking projects. It was easy to apply, easy cleanup, looks great, and was really "goof proof" as promised.
