Product Overview

The Emsco Group RESCUE 40 Gal. Waterstone Rain Barrel provides a way to safely gather rainwater while offering a natural stone appearance to complement most home and garden decor. The downspout diverter will automatically keep your rain barrel full when rain has fallen and bypass the rain barrel when full preventing overfilling and overflowing which can cause flooding. This rain barrel kit collects rainwater to be both environmentally-friendly and money-saving by helping reduce your dependence on municipal or well water. In addition, your plants will thrive using pure, soft rain water instead of the processed water from your tap which can contain elements harmful to your plants. The realistic Waterstone design allows you add beauty or hide unsightly objects such as pumps, pipes or sprinkler valves.

Customer Questions & Answers

When winter comes, how do you prepare the rain barrel?

Asked by: TC
We remove the hose from the barrel, remove the lid, and when it's good and dry we store it in the crawl space upside down (without the lid on). I'm not sure that's necessary, but that's what we do. The hose we leave attached to the downspout

Product overview says lid removes easily but a question about a lid says there is none. Which is right?

Customer Reviews

40 Gal. Waterstone Rain Barrel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from After putting in all the work to install it, had to return it because the outlet leaked. Very good looking rain barrel. I was very dissapointed and frustrated when after following the instructions, I built a level platform lined with pavers to support the weight. Once I had it all set up (which involved moving plants and bushes to accomodate the rain barrel) I proceeded to fill it with the hose to test it (as recommended) to my dismay, it leaked from the outlet where the hose is attached. The leak came from around the black ring. Thinking it was merely loose, I tried to thighten it, but the whole thing just spun around. If this happens when it is brand new, it obviously is not made to last!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This rain barrel looks as authentic as you could get. I would recommend the 40-gallon rain barrel. I look at other reviews for the 80-gallon which I really wanted. If this one works well, I will get another 40 and connect them. The hose should be a dark color, not white. The 40-gallon looks as good as you would ever to expect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive rain barrell The 'barrel' met the need for an attractive front of the home collection device. It was easy to install, instructions were clear and simple to follow. The shut-off at the end of the drain hose allowed plantings in front of the barrel which will, when grown, disguise the entire installation. It is completely enclosed so should not have an alga problem. We have yet to have rain but it appears to be of quality equal to my other two older collection barrels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When adding the RainReserve Diverter to this product, this is an EXCELLENT product. This product as well as the WaterUrns come with a simple diverter system which builds up with leaves and debris inside of it. The downspout must be taken apart several times a year to clean it out. I cut the hole larger to fit the RainReserve Diverter to it and it becomes a simple NO MAINTENANCE rain barrel, decorative and beautiful. I am also able to disconnect it in the winter time, empty the water out and leave it outside all winter without it cracking. These rocks and urns are the ONLY items I have found that are a CLOSED system, meaning NO overflow, NO mosquitos, NO danger to small animals or children. I have attached a video of what happens when you purchase an "OPEN" system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Looking Rain Barrel I wanted a rain barrel, but didn't like the look of most of them. This rock looks great with the natural fieldstone landscaping borders and will work well with a Japanese garden design. My neighbors asked where I bought it because they have never seen on that looks like this. I wish I would have bought a larger one. I am considering purchasing another rock for another corner of my house.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from wouldn't recommend The tube that comes with the product kinks. Unless there is something to disguise the attachment to the downspout it is not nice to look at as the plastic attachment is white so doesn't blend with surroundings well. The assembling really isn't easy either. I would go with a rain barrel that the downspout just feeds into.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to install but can't get it to work We diligently followed the instructions, but even when the collection barrel is full, we can't get water to come out of the hose. We're attempting to raise the base for better gravity flow.
