It does not come with a spigot, it comes with a hose and a 1/4 turn ball valve for water control. Due to my placement I have one barrel that I left just the ball valve on and the other has the hose then ball valve.

It comes with a small hose with a tip that doesn't leak. No spigot bit you might be able to screw one in where the hose attaches. My recommendation would be to raise the barrel up higher if you do this or make a hole higher up than the one they have.

There is a screw connection at the base, the hose and ball valve that come with the product fit. The hose is about 2-3 feet long. I also connected a standard garden hose and use the ball valve to control the water flow. I have a neighbor that hooked his up to a timer and drip system so it opens and closes on its own.

The top is not able to be removed, there is no access to the interior other then the hole you make for the diverter tube and the threaded drain at the base. I was hoping the top would be able to be taken off to be cleaned or in case of debris but have not had an issue yet

No, the top is not removable at all. You will not be able to clean this out very well at all. The only way to get to the inside is through the spigot hole in the bottom and any other hole you might drill into it. Well I created a small video of the manual but It won't let me download it unless it's on YouTube. Sorry.

When inspecting the product after it was delivered, I was kind of thinking the same thing - BUT, after careful inspection of how this thing works and why, there is really no reason to remove the top. ( in my opinion anyway.) I did lose my grip of the clear plastic hose that went from my downspout into the barrel, so of course it went "plop" into the barrel. But no big thing... there's plenty of clear plastic tubing that comes with the product, so cutting another one was no sweat. Besides, the product is so designed that clogs will not be an issue. Inspecting how the rain water gets into the barrel and how the barrel itself drains, eliminates a lot of trouble with function. Read Less

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 87 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great rain barrel This product works as described. It was easy to assemble the diverter kit. The barrel is a great addition to any garden. It looks nice and works great. August 11, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive, but bulges when full of water Easy to install and collects water well; however, it bulges in the back when full of water. gives it a strange appearance and pushes it away from the wall. September 2, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not "flat back" when full. Overall I like the concept. However, nowhere does it mention or show any examples of it being elevated. Mine is placed on levelled stone but when full it bows away from the wall. And at ground level there is no water pressure. Water is useful only for plants within range or by filling watering pitcher. I've purchased a second one on sale and hope to eliminate some of these problems when I place it. Hose is of poor quality and crimps at nozzle. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Stock Quality Control Rain Barrel arrived completely dented in on one side, although there was no damage to the box. Leads me to believe that the warehouse purposely shipped a damaged item thinking that the customer could fix it. Returns of online purchases through the Home Depot computer system are time-consuming, and the customer service rep had to override several options since the barrel was shipped from a state with different tax values. Sorry Home Depot, never again. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice planter/rain barrel Bought two but one was missing the diverter. Called HD .. No problem vendor will ship one out to me. Love doing business with this store. The rain barrels are great and real easy to setup. I really like the flat surface back. Doesn't take too much room. August 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Diverters collected enough water to fill the rain barrels during a heavy rain shower. However, another user (in CA) reported that the diverter does not collect 100% of the flow while the barrels are filling. I think a larger diameter diverter tube may be needed to maximize collection in arid areas. The small handles on the ball valves are difficult to operate. A higher quality valve with a larger handle would make draining easier. August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed in the manufacturer Within the first few weeks of installation, I noticed the back was bulging significantly. Given that it is top heavy. As well as on a stand for water pressure, I'm afraid it could fall since it pushes forward. I contacted the company for replacement under warranty. I provided all documentation they requested, and now they won't respond. Other than the weak back, it holds a great amount of water and is attractive. The diverter does have a hard time handling the flow and tends to overflow. July 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by would purchase another the water barrels arrived much earlier than I expected, all parts were included with the barrels. the directions were also understandable. Overall the quality of the product exceeded my expectation, and I expect to get many years of service from these barrels. July 19, 2016
