Product Overview

The Emsco Group RESCUE 60 Gal. Basket Weave Rain Water Urn features an integrated planter and an easy-to-install, patented downspout diverter kit which fits 2 in. x 3 in. standard or 3 in. x 4 in. high capacity downspouts. The downspout diverter will automatically keep your rain barrel full when rain has fallen and bypass the rain barrel when full preventing overfilling and overflowing which can cause flooding. This rain barrel kit collects rainwater to be both environmentally-friendly and money-saving by helping reduce your dependence on municipal or well water. In addition, your plants will thrive using pure, soft rain water instead of the processed water from your tap which can contain elements harmful to your plants. An added feature about the diverter system is that it does not have to be removed during the winter season. The diverter and rain barrel can be by-passed so that water flows through the downspout as usual, keeping water from getting into the rain barrel and freezing. The integrated planter can be planted directly into or a pre-arranged floral basket can be used to adorn the top of the rain barrel. The planter area includes a weep hole, allowing excess water to drain out preventing plant stress or death due to over-watering and root rot.

  • Environmentally-friendly decorative water urn collects rain from your downspout to reduce your need for municipal or well water, helping you save money
  • Made from UV-stable, engineered resin for durability with the look of a basket weave
  • Built-in large planter has weep holes to help prevent over watering and root rot
  • Kit includes our patented dual downspout diverter, a 36 in. connection hose, connection grommets, a barb plug, a 48 in. main outlet hose with on/off ball cock valve, 2 hose gaskets and an illustrated installation guide
  • Diverter system automatically redirects water down the downspout when the urn is full
  • Easy-to-install downspout diverter kit fits 2 in. x 3 in. standard or 3 in. x 4 in. high capacity downspouts
  • Holds up to 60 Gal. of rainwater
  • Can be connected to a soaker hose for convenient automatic watering of nearby plants/gardens
  • Rainwater is ideal for watering plants and gardens, rainwater is at ambient temperatures which plant enjoy and it contains no chlorine or other chemicals

It doesn't appear that there is a way to actually access the inside of the rain barrel to clean it. Can anyone provide insight into that?

Answer:
No, there is no lid, it is a "sealed system". To clean it you would have to remove the tube from the downspout and add some bleach or soap and water into the barrel, roll the barrel around on a blanket on the ground a bit, then add water and rinse well draining it from the spigot hole.

Answer:
Yes, it fits perfect, and if you install it upside down it will accommodate the bigger 3 x 5 downspout. Make sure to cut the downspout even with the hole you drill in the barrel or it won't fill.

Answer:
You have to water the plants separately, the rain barrel does not supply the planter with water. If it rains almost every day like here in the tropics, the rain will water the plants on top, I don't worry about it..

60 Gal. Basket Weave Rain Barrel with Integrated Planter and Diverter Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive Rain Barrel It is large; however, I was surprised at how quickly it fills up. It requires drilling a hole and modifying the downspout for water to enter. This is the first rain barrel I have ever purchased, and will need to retrofit a pipe to divert overflow water and prevent it from spilling over the siding and foundation. *The only issue with shipping is it arrived with a dent in the side. Since it is plastic I placed it in the sun and after a few hours I was able to pop it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let it Rain, Best Choice The rain barrel is very nice, looks great on our patio. I put it up high on cinder blocks to give it more water pressure, and added a Dual valve at the bottom so I can leave the longer hose connected and have a spigot if needed, or add a second hose. It took me less than an hour to set it up, but I'm a handyman, it'll take you more. I recommend this product, I got it on sale for under $100 and but well worth it if you pay more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rain Barrels Rain Barrel works great and the gutter diverted kit is great and easy to install. My only issue is that the barrel is totally enclosed and only way to put water in it is by the diverter hole. There is no way to get inside to clean in future should algae, etc form on inside. I ended up drilling holes in top and buying a planter to use as a lid.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not disappointed but not compeletely satisfied. Great concept, but could be easier to collect rain water if the downspout went directly into the barrel. The amount of water collected is minimal, unless it's raining really hard all day. We might end up drilling a hole in the top to connect directly to the downspout. Is asthetically pleasing though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty but comes with work; nice once completed We were having drainage issues in our front courtyard but couldn't find a way to rapidly without long gutter downspouts everywhere. I had the idea to install four of these rain barrels. When they were delivered they were in good condition but we quickly noticed that there was not a hole drilled that would allow water to flow freely in down from the downspout. It comes with a diverter kit that has to be installed with your downspouts. Luckily we happen to be getting gutter upgrades in these areas so I had the installation guys put in diverter kit it it comes with a diverter kit that has to be installed with your downspouts. Luckily we happen to be getting gutter upgrades in these areas so I had the installation guys put in diverter kits however I had to go out and buy a drill bit that would drill through this heavy plastic material so we could install and connect the plastic hose that comes from the downspout into the barrel. Had I known that it would be much more complicated to get up and running I may not have purchased them however now that it's done I'm really liking it. Please be aware that during heavy rains water is both diverted to the rain barrel and still comes out of your downspout. The hoses that come with it work nicely and reach to the top of the planter just fine. I use these to fill watering cans and make my rounds to my other pots. It would be nice if the holes for the hose were pre-drilled however I understand why they are not. It would be impossible to know how you are positioning it near your downspouts. Better to get a custom fit and do it yourself I guess. Just a lot more work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rain Barrel with planter Good features: Design/appearance of product; planter on top includes a drain; water escapes from near bottom of barrel which maximizes the amount of usable water. Poor features: the hose tends to kink over time if stored in a fashion where the hose is bent; the price is high (we bought one of these in store 2 years ago for about 30% lower price....I think the price we paid is high).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value; Diverter can be improved The rain barrel is good quality. Rain diverter can be improved - during heavy rains water overflows from the diverter (white plastic connector between the upper and lower gutter pipes) and goes down the lower gutter pipe. Water flow into the plastic tube needs to be improved.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Barrel YES - Accessories NO The rain barrels are great, the accessories with the downspout converter, the large white awkward with tubes coming out. I chose to do my own type of connection rather then show the accessories that came with the rain barrel.
